CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE ARIA Drip, drip, drip. Drops of brown-coloured water dropped from the leaking tap into the dirty sink across the empty room. The sound was steady and predictable with an interval of five seconds between each drop. It echoed in the silent, dimly lit room. It drove me crazy, but at the same time, it was the only thing that kept me awake and grounded.

And then I saw it. Water. It started dripping down her legs. My heart dropped to my stomach in an instant. “My water…” her voice was shaky, barely above a whisper. “It broke.”

CHAPTER 45 The crack spiderwebbed across the black water bowl in midair, bright lines slicing through the darkness like lightning. My mother’s face distorted behind the fractures—eyes wild, mouth shaping words faster than the liquid could carry. RUN. The bowl shuddered. Then it shattered. Black water rained down in heavy drops that didn’t splash—they *stuck*, clinging to stone and skin like ink that wanted to write. A drop hit my cheek and burned cold. My vision flashed—

“It feels like something is watching.” Orion turned toward the ocean again. The water had gone still. Completely still. No waves. No wind. Then The silver crack widened slightly. Not enough to open. Just enough. And from it… A drop fell. One tiny drop of dark liquid. It fell slowly through the air like thick oil. Everyone watched it. No one moved. The drop hit the street below. Silence. Nothing happened. Maria let out a small breath. Then the ground where the drop landed began to change.

Her hair, still wet and dripping, clung to her devilishly tempting body. I watched, mesmerized, as a single water droplet traced a path down her shoulder blade. I swore I could almost hear the soft collision as it hit her skin, a tiny, provocative sound. That minuscule droplet then tantalizingly slid past her collarbone, dropping onto her nipple, which was already hard from the chill in the room.

She looked back down into the water. "This water is still. Without interference, it will remain this way." She tapped the water lightly with the tip of her finger, and the water rippled out. "The moment it is disturbed, it doesn't collapse in on itself, but ripples out until it reaches a definite end." She raised her head.

Ice burst from his palms, racing across the glass of the giant tank in jagged, branching veins. The aquarium groaned under the sudden freeze, cracks snapping through it sharp enough to slice through the noise. His chest cinched tight. Heat and cold warred beneath his skin until they fused into one blinding pressure. Mist surged outward, swallowing the stage, the crowd, the entire world in a white haze. When it thinned, the water lay still. Frozen solid. Empty. And Orion was gone.

Theo watched, mesmerized, as it spread across her skin, creating intricate patterns that almost looked like armor. "Look at this, Theo," she said softly, her voice low but clear. "Water is powerful, but it's also adaptable. It can take any shape, flow around any obstacle. It finds its way through even the smallest cracks. It's a reminder that we have to be flexible, even when we're facing something that seems impossible."

Her love. I blinked open my eyes when a drop of water fell upon me. I tilted my head back and looked up at the dark grey clouds covering the sky and the sun and closed my eyes as more droplets fell, followed by a downpour. I quickly looked down when my stomach threatened to hurl and took in a deep shaky breath.

Droplets of water dribbled down the side of the bottle and onto his shirt. Feeling a sudden urge, Julian tilted his head back and poured some water over his head. The liquid cascaded over his hair, soaking it through. The sensation was electrifying, the water feeling like a jolt of energy. He shook his head, sending droplets flying in all directions. He set the bottle down on the kitchen counter and made his way back to the living room. Droplets of water fell from his hair and onto his shirt, creating small damp patches. The coolness of the water still lingered on his skin, sending shivers down his spine. He leaned back on the couch, his eyes flickering to the ceiling.
