Simon leaned forward, forearms braced on his thighs.
“I thought if I gave it space, it would fade. That I’d wake up one morning and it would just… not hurt.”
His thumb rubbed unconsciously at the edge of his phone.
“But I saw something today that reminded me of her, and it was like—” he snapped his fingers once, sharp in the quiet room, “—like no time passed at all.”
On the other end, Damon sighed — not annoyed, not surprised. Just heavy with understanding.
“Have you talked to her?”
