I blurted, stepping forward.
“To my room.”
I frowned. “But… we....can't we share a room?"
He paused, then turned to face me, his eyes locking onto mine. “We’re not husband and wife anymore, Anya.”
His words hit me like a hurricane.
“We’re divorced,” he continued. “Sharing a bed, even a room, wouldn’t be right.”
Tears burned my eyes. “Hunter, please...”
“Goodnight.”
And with that, he walked out.
I stood there, frozen, staring at the closed door. My chest ached so badly it felt like I couldn't breathe.
