The thought made my stomach churn. When it was time to give our final goodbyes, I walked up with trembling knees, my hands gripping a folded letter I had written. My voice broke as I tried to read it aloud. “Hey Zee,” I began, the nickname only I used for her. “I’m sorry I wasn’t always the strongest friend. You were always the bold one—the one who shielded everyone else. And I just… I wish I had done more for you. I wish I had warned you louder. I wish I had held on when you pushed us away.”

"I'm sorry too. I should have been honest. With you. With her." We didn't make plans to see each other. We didn't declare anything. But something shifted—a door opening, just a crack. I was deep in thought, when i suddenly remembered the letter i had received from my men on my return from the sun clan. I had disregarded it, it couldn’t possibly be true but it seems like the best option for me right now. I took the letter from the drawer i had placed it in and reopened it, the letter had come from my wife’s childhood best friend that i had never seemed to like and she never liked me either, so i really did not see a reason why she would have written to me.
