A Little Book Novels & Stories

To stay away from everyone, to keep them all in the dark about how fucked up my life is right now. I look at my bookshelf and smile when I find my favorite childhood book. Little prince. I grab it and cuddle up on my bed with the book. I pull the blanket up to my waist and open the book on the first page. I can’t remember the last time I read this book, but I know it will bring me back to memories from when I was a kid because I remember reading it to Layla.

Stephanie’s POV I stood quietly in front of my locker trying to recall where I had kept my English language textbook when suddenly I heard a loud thud on my locker door. I was frightened but yes, I was also used to it. “Nerdy bitch” Stacy said to me rolling her eyes and walking away like she didn’t just almost give me a heart attack. I simply ignored and picked out the textbook that was hiding behind my Romance novel. Oh how I loved the sweet impossible imagination of having a lover.

Some of the books are in Latin and other foreign languages. I retrieve a copy of The Little Prince from the shelf and smile as I open the book and realize it’s a first edition. A very old book for sure, but one of my favorite books of all time. I learned a lot of life lessons reading that book as I grew up. And I read it at least once a year. It doesn’t really matter how old you are, that’s a must-read.

Hours later, I was still there, pouring over my latest interest, open books everywhere on the floor around me. Funny enough, I’d never really been a fan of reading, but concentrating very hard on the words of the pages kept me from thinking of, or worse, going to look for Ivan. During high school, I had read lots of books and amidst my busy schedule, I still joined a book club. We did more of proofreading and book reviews, pointing out errors, and giving good remarks. I thanked myself for doing that because it was helping entirely well. I found my work very interesting and I didn't want to leave it. I was so engrossed that I didn't hear the incessant knocking on my door. "Come in," I said, never taking my eyes off the computer screen.
