Cycle of Cliches

Cycle of Cliches

And he had a long nose that looked like a cursive L – L. “Sal Maan Roos Dee. He is a big writer. One of the biggest of all times. This man, see,” revealed my brother, showing the back cover of the book he had in his hands. The passport size photograph of the man on the back cover was exactly like the man I saw in my visions. I AM NOT KIDDING! I mean it! The front cover read: “An Extraordinary Novel” – The New York Review of Books ________________________________________________ MIDNIGHT’S CHILDREN

Puck Me Hard

Puck Me Hard

Just more proof that Noah was a rich kid through and through. I snorted, reaching for the last book on the bottom shelf. It was placed weirdly from sight and it seemed to be wrapped with brown paper. Curiosity got the better of me and I ripped the paper away, wanting to see what book it was. Probably some first-edition Charles Dickens. But when I turned it over to look at the cover, my eyes widened. Two shirtless hunks tangled up together stared back at me from the cover. It could have as well been a cover for gay p**n.

The Life She Stole

The Life She Stole

The Brown family was not thrilled with the message, but they clenched their jaws and agreed. That night, the wedding presents arrived at our doorstep, and Holly paraded her designer watch from one end of the village to the other. By the flickering light of a kerosene lamp, my parents counted out 12,000 dollars in cash, handling it so much that it began to show signs of wear. However, they only gave me an old piece of fabric, yellowed with age.

His Little Ruin

His Little Ruin

The front page showed a photograph of him, Luca, and Aurora from years ago. Luca stood between them in the picture, smiling at something outside the camera frame while a much younger Aurora sat on his shoulders laughing. The sight made him grit his teeth. This picture was taken a few days before the fire that nearly killed the little girl. His face hardened the moment the memory slipped in. Beside the newspaper sat a gray wig. Short. Masculine. Cheap synthetic strands. Vito blinked, then stared at it for one long second. Everything inside him went cold when the dots started connecting.

Flawless luna

Flawless luna

I scanned the shelves, my eyes tracing the titles and covers in search of the perfect book to momentarily distract me from the reality of my mother's illness. A vibrant book cover caught my attention, a beautiful couple locked in a passionate embrace against a backdrop of rolling hills and a setting sun. "Love's Everlasting Promise" was emblazoned across the top in elegant script. I knew, in that moment, that this was the book that would temporarily fill the void in my heart.

Her Life He Wrote

Her Life He Wrote

He asks her something out of the planet. "Y-your journal?" "Yes, my journal," he confirms. "The one with a gold cover, have you seen it?" Her mind goes blank and she answers, "No… I've never seen it." But, maybe… she did see it. She just doesn't want to let him know. Kachina walks past him and approaches the window. Before untangling the curtains, she peeps out again to see nothing but meadows glistening like emerald crystals.

To the Forest that Bargains Life

To the Forest that Bargains Life

I returned a favoring smile to her by doing it genuinely before I took the book on her soft palm, an almost thick book with a blue cover. The book is heavy. On the front cover, there is a closed eye with long black thick lashes in a form of feathers placed inside a pentagon. Outside the badge has a wonderful abstract ocean and sunrise. Below it, golden embossed letters are shining to make its cover spectacular: BOOK OF A ZONER "Begin reading from page two to page five," Psyche said to me, stopping me in amazement. So I did what she wanted me to do. I flipped the pages until I reached the second page of the book. I started reading what's on it.

Amanda
I think this book was great. I will definitely give it a 5 star rating. The only thing negative I will say, is that I think you spent way to much time writing when she was still underage and sped up the book/ ended after she turned of age. I would have liked to see more of the story of Liam and Beth
Jennifer Kaltz

His Regret, The Crown's Claim

His Regret, The Crown's Claim

The mark on my neck hummed in my chest, responding to the object as if it were a long-lost limb. "You," I whispered. I reached into the darkness and pulled out an old, worn book. It was small, no larger than a diary, and it had no title on the spine. The cover was a mottled, grayish-brown, and it felt heavy, as if it were weighted with lead or ancient secrets.

One Life, One Fate

One Life, One Fate

His eyes were red as he stared intently at the familiar bedside lamp. I searched all over the pack before finally buying it because its light was as gentle as a full moon. He reached out with trembling hands and unscrewed the lampshade. Inside the lamp base lay a miniature USB drive. A tiny sunflower pendant hung from it. It was a gift from me. I had smiled and told him, "Timothy, you're like the sun. I'll always follow you." He simply tossed it into a drawer at the time. Now, this little sunflower pierced his heart like a dagger.
