Chapter 125 Kayla POV It was one week before the wedding, and for once… no one was fighting. Thank the Goddess for that. I truly thought Luna and Reene were going to kill each other. When Luna found out Reene had been trying to talk to her mate after Reene’s own mate rejected her for his chosen mate, all hell broke loose. They had rejected each other, but that didn’t make it hurt any less. Luna nearly killed her. Reene didn’t even fight back.

She stood there for what felt like an hour before shrugging her shoulders, “I will try to talk to Pete, but Ronan and his psycho wolf are your problem. I denounced the pack, I am not your Luna, remember?” It’s my turn to roll my eyes, “Hey dumbass, just because you denounced the pack, doesn’t mean that you aren’t our Luna. You haven’t been marked yet and you haven’t rejected him yet, so you are still our rightful Luna. “Okay, so tell me how to reject the asshole and I will do it right now!” I smile. Got her. “You have to say the words to him in person and he has to accept the rejection, otherwise it’s not legit.”

Everyone expected a reaction from me, something I refused to give. With nothing to lose, I opened my eyes, met his gaze and spoke up. “I, Eden Larue, the daughter of Aman Larue, accept your rejection, Alpha Asher Williams and hereby announce I refuse the rightful place as your Luna.” The smug look disappeared from his face the moment the last word left my lips. His face twisted in an expression of pain as a loud gasp left him, the glass slipped from his fingers and he threw his hand over his heart.

Only a void that felt like it was swallowing her whole. Luna’s legs gave out. She dropped to her knees in the cold snow, not caring that her dress was getting wet and dirty. Not caring that everyone was watching. The rejection hurt more than any beating she’d ever received in the past five years. More than any insult. More than any cold night she’d spent sleeping on the floor because the packhouse had no room for a wolfless omega. Luna turned and ran. She didn’t care that she was running in the middle of a sacred ceremony. She didn’t care that pack law said she should kneel and accept the rejection with dignity. She didn’t care that running would only make her look more pathetic.

Luna said, her voice steady despite her inner turmoil. "I have no intention of butting into your relationship or making things complicated between both of you. All I need is for you to talk to my father in case he gets upset about the rejection. You already know how he can be, so talking to him myself may not be the best idea. Once that's done, I'll handle the rest. We'll go through the rejection ceremony once he comes to terms with us not being meant for each other, and after it all, you and I can go back to being enemies," she explained.
