Luna looks at me with seriousness and concern, her eyes piercing mine. “She’s going to try to seduce him,” she says gravely, lowering her voice. “She’s going to use her charms, her wiles, her tricks to make him fall for her again. She’s the reason Jackson rejected you.” I gasp, my eyes stinging. My heart sinks and my stomach churns. I can’t believe it. “No,” I say desperately, shaking my head. “I–I don’t know what to say.” Luna nods and comforts me.

I pressed my lips tightly to stop it from coming especially knowing Diana and Laura were mocking me. “Just leave Violet. Don’t make me get my men to throw you out of the pack. What we had was good while it lasted but it’s over now. And for that time, we won’t lock you up, or even have you killed but you cannot be our Luna. I refuse it.” The walls in my mind crashed, as well as my world. Another rejection because it was believed I did something I had no clue of. My eyes lowered, and I bit my tongue forcing my shoulders to square and not to slack. I have to be strong. I saw this coming didn’t I?

I said, my reply sounding like a question. “Getting there,” Alec muttered, his eyes gleaming in delight, he was enjoying whatever this weird encounter was. “say it,” he mouthed, edging himself closer to the edge of his chair. “Hades mate,” I whispered in a low tone, my head dropped in fear. Alec barked out a loud laugh, the room rumbled at the force of his laughter. “There it is,” he muttered. “The rejected Luna, trapped in the middle of an unreciprocated love,” he said.

He opened his mouth, and with a voice cold and unyielding, he said the words that would shatter her world forever: “I reject you, Aria Mooncrest.” The crowd gasped in shock. Whispers rippled like wildfire through the courtyard. Aria froze, her lungs seizing as though invisible hands had wrapped around her throat. The words echoed in her skull, breaking her heart with merciless precision. “I…” Her voice cracked, barely a whisper. “You… what?” Rion stepped forward, his tone sharp, meant for the entire pack to hear. “You are unworthy to be my Luna. Weak. Fragile. A disappointment to this pack.”

Just present. Drax lowered his arms slow. Blood ran from a new cut on his forehead. "What are you?" he asked. His voice sounded quieter now. "I am the Rejected Luna," I said. "The one you threw away. The one who did not break." He took a step toward me. His hand reached out again but slower. "Come back with me. We can start over. The bond can be made right." I looked at his hand. For one second the old hurt came back. The pain from the clearing when he said no. The way everyone turned away from me. But the hurt did not make me small anymore. It made me steady.

Done.” She spun around and ran out of the place. She brushed past her father, who called after her, but she ignored him and ran out of the pack house. She couldn't stay there anymore, or she was going to hit him.

It would take a while before I could get accustomed to the idea of being a Luna. “I understand. I’m willing to wait, as long as you end up by my side” My heart beats widely at his words. We lock eyes for several moments before I remember an important factor. “Wait, you would have to… we would have to mark each other before I can become Luna” There was no way any Luna could be crowned if she didn’t carry her Alpha’s mark. “Yes,” Klaus agrees. “You would carry my mark and I would carry yours.
