The Man Behind the Mask
I kept my eyes squeezed shut, but after a few moments, I heard him chuckle softly.
"I didn’t want to scare you, so I whistled. From now on, that’ll be our signal, okay? I know you’re not asleep. Were you waiting for me? Was last night so good that you’re already ready for more tonight?"
He hit the nail on the head, and I opened my eyes, feeling both embarrassed and irritated. He looked just like he did the night before, his face hidden behind a mask, only his eyes visible. However, I had left a small lamp on tonight, casting a warm, dim light in the room.
