It made her slightly uneasy. "Trying to back out of your promise?" Chris asked Paige. Paige replied, "What promise?" Chris said, "You said if I performed well, you'd reward me. Now you say my performance was average, meaning it's not good. If it's not good, you don't want to reward me, right? Isn't this an attempt to back out of your promise?" "I... I'm not!!!" Paige's face turned red. Chris said, "No? Then it's time to fulfill your promise, isn't it?"

He leaned to her face completely mesmerized in her beautiful orbs. "The house, the food, the clothes, and the sincerity you gave me. I promise I'll pay it a million times better when I get back everything that's mine." Daisy shook her head, rejecting what River was offering her. "I'm not doing this hoping you'll reimburse it, and I don't want you to promise me anything. You don't know what life will bring you, so don't make promises to burden you and me." "I don't make promises to anyone, and I've never broken one. So when I promise you, it's not just bullshit. I'll do everything to fulfil that promise." River said solemnly. Making Daisy unable to not drown in the sweet promise that man gave her.

"A promise." In the back of his mind, the Utterance stirred with recognition. A promise. Of course. The Hungry consume possibility. Futures. Tomorrows. But a promise is a future that has been committed but not yet delivered. It exists in a state of permanent potential. It can never be fully consumed because it is always becoming. "Exactly," Jack said. "Ben, you listening?" "I am filing a one-thousand-and-forty-one-trillion-credit counter-suit while simultaneously restructuring our planetary defense budget and trying not to have a stress-induced cardiac event. But yes, I am listening."

I looked at him wide-eyed, "What's that?" He sighed and rolled his eyes, "You should really stop assuming for something too advanced. You've been doing that all day! It's a promise ring, dummy. I want it to be something for you to remember me by while I'm away. Even if I take too long or even a decade, know that I will come back eventually, okay? You were born to be mine after all."

For as long you'll have me, then I'd like to have you as well goes unspoken; in any way you'll let me, in any way I can. A lot of things went unspoken between them but for once, for once Proserpina feels like they have reached the same page. But at their core, isn't that what makes a promise? Promises are an agreement founded in mutual trust and even if they are felt, they will always be the words that linger in our minds, in our hearts; promises will always be the words that remain unsaid. And while this promise may or may not be worth it (this was for her to judge for many years to come), she dares to hope that it will be one he or she won't come to regret.

"Yes, I will tell you everything," Sticking out my pinkie finger, I extended it toward him. "Promise?" He looked at me, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Are we really doing a pinkie promise? What are we, five-year-olds?" I persisted, undeterred by his teasing. "It doesn't matter how old we are. You need to make this promise and seal it." He looked at his injured hand encased in a bandage. "I can't seem to use my hand." "That's not a problem," I reassured him, rising from his side. Taking his free hand, I hooked my pinkie finger with his and sealed the pact with our thumbs. "Promises are meant to be kept."

Melissa nodded. "Promise not to think about it if the choice is between your life and your conscience?" Promise! Fingers dug hard. - Promise! “I promise... I promise...

In that moment, promises hung in the air, unspoken but understood. "I promise," I said, my voice filled with sincerity and determination. It was a promise to fight for her, for us, and to never repeat the mistakes of the past. The weight of my commitment lay heavy on my shoulders, but it was a burden I was willing to bear for the chance to mend what was broken and build a future together.

He shook his head, "I'm a mess." "Then let me do that. Let me protect you this time. If you try and it doesn't work out, then I'll protect you for the rest of my life. But first, you have to just try? Hmm? Promise me?" She asked and he sighed, his eyes glassy and a tear slipped off. Alexandra stared at him with teary eyes waiting for his reply. She was pleading, begging for him to just be him. "I promise." He whispered. A grateful sigh escaped Alexandra's lips and she rubbed his face fondly, "I will help you."
