The door to the library stood slightly open, the faintest sliver of light beneath it.
He signaled Eli to stay back and pushed the door open silently.
The library was empty. Or seemed to be. Bookshelves loomed like silent sentries in the dark. The rain battered the windows in steady rhythm.
Then the scanner spiked.
Eli stepped closer, voice barely audible. “It’s here.”
Damian swept the flashlight along the shelves — and froze.
Tucked between two volumes was a small black camera lens, almost invisible in the shadow.
“Found you,” Damian muttered. He reached out, snapping the wire free.
