Silas looked at them. “Who is that?” Neither sister answered. They stared at the screen like kids who opened a door they were told never to touch. The voice kept going. Gentle. Almost like he was smiling. “I was starting to think you wouldn’t come back here on your own.”

I managed to whisper, my eyes fluttering shut. "The ledger is finished," Silas said, his voice a low rumble that was blissfully silent in my head. No psychic echo. No judgment. Just the cold wind. "Now we start the design for your ghost." As he carried me toward the Northern Citadel, I felt the "Voice" of the Crescent Pack finally fade into static. Roman was screaming into the void, but for the first time in a long while, I couldn't hear him. The pavement had cracked. And I had finally fallen through.

I melt against his chest, surprised by how soft it feels despite the strength beneath.”

But we needed answers. "Silas, stop!" I shouted. I didn't use my human voice. I unleashed a fraction of the Luna Voice, the dual-frequency vibrating off the iron walls. Silas froze, the blade an inch from the assassin’s neck. His chest was heaving, his crimson eyes wide and wild, fighting the overwhelming biological urge to slaughter anything that threatened his mate. He looked at me, his chest rising and falling in rapid, shallow breaths. I stepped out from behind his shadow.
