“No,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “I… I know it was wrong.”
He reached out, his large hand brushing against her arm. It was a light touch, but it sent a jolt through her, making her flinch. His fingers were warm, surprisingly gentle, as they traced the delicate skin of her inner arm, raising goosebumps in their wake.
“Wrong, yes,” he agreed, his voice a low rumble. “But perhaps… understandable. Curiosity can be a powerful thing, can’t it? Especially when it concerns secrets.”
