ALPHA MICHAEL After Italia arrived at my office and revealed the shocking news of Claire's mysterious disappearance, I felt a surge of emotions. I had no idea that Claire possessed the ability to vanish like Ruth; it was an entirely new concept to me. I ordered Beta Jayden and Gamma David to join me in the search for Claire in the forest. Although it seemed like a command, deep down, I knew they would have willingly assisted regardless. Claire wasn’t just a friend; she was my mate, my life. Her reckless nature had led her into a perilous situation.

Claire's POV: Stepping into my room a sigh escapes my lips as I place down my books before face planting onto my couch. Until a scent fills my nostrils causing my head to shoot up. Next to my fridge is Darren digging his hands into some fries causing my eyebrows to furrow. "What the fuck are you doing" I ask as he looks at me wide eyed. "Dude" I ask sitting up causing him to advert his eyes from me. "Ummm, I'm just eating" he said shrugging his shoulders.

Aaron went right up to her. He wasn’t waiting for anything or anyone, not this time. He took her into his arms and pulled her close like a man being shipped off to war the next day. He wasn’t sure, but he thought that he’d seen it earlier. The tell-tale signs that Aria was afraid. Aaron was fluent in being able to see it, no matter how well she was masking it. All of this must be killing her. Only two weeks ago, she’d been promised these moments with someone else.

Aurora let out a long deep sigh and croaked out, “For that pighead, Teetee is just a means to get ‘The Heart of Magic’.” Sitting beside her, I held her hand and said, “His loss… Tiara is a charmer… she will always have people to love and care for her.” She gave me one of those wholehearted smiles that lit up her eyes. One of my personal favorites. “It doesn’t matter what Tyson thinks about Tiara, we all love her more than anything else in the world,” Zarina added, leaning over to gaze at our angel. Aurora exhaled deeply and nodded her head. “I am not going to waste my precious time thinking about that D*** head. I have more important things to do.”

Days passed by, and by the time Adira and Austin came back from their honeymoon, Clair had successfully taken care of all the awareness programs that they had planned while Lilli and Henry looked after the business and other matters of the empire. Adira and Austin went through the files and they were satisfied to see that everything was in place as they wanted them to be. It is not that Austin and Adira doubted their capabilities. CLAIR As soon as the car halted in front of the packhouse, I saw Aaron jump from where he was sitting on the steps in front of the packhouse and rush towards the passenger side, opening the door abruptly. I automatically flung my arms around him as he scooped me up for a tight embrace. My feet left the ground while he swung us around. "Clairy! You’re here!!!" His hug was so tight, almost suffocating, but I would never complain — not anymore, not after the separation.

“I thought I was mistaken.” She offered a small smile. “I thought the same.” He gestured to the empty chair across from her. “May I?” She hesitated, then nodded. Aaron sat, studying her with open curiosity—but not pity. That mattered more than she realized. “You look… different,” he said finally. “Different good?” she asked. “Different honest,” he replied. The words settled warmly between them. They talked cautiously at first. Safe topics. Work. The neighborhood. Time that had passed without asking permission. Aaron mentioned he had returned to the city permanently. Claire didn’t explain why she was there.

The faint creak of the door pulled me out of my thoughts. Claire stepped inside, her long auburn hair tumbling over her shoulders like a curtain of fire. She closed the door behind her and leaned against it, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. “Still brooding, Aaron?” she teased, her voice low and sultry. I didn’t answer, my gaze fixed on the mirror. Claire had a knack for interrupting when I least wanted company, and tonight was no exception.

“Ugh! Let me go! What do you need?” “Hmm… We just wanted to ask you something because brother Erin won’t talk.” said Ara. Claire was stunned and only frowned because she still looked confused. Our cousins stood up and stretched, since they would rather not become involved in what Ara and Lux were doing. “Oops! I’m out! My girls are looking for me!” said Aaron. He saluted us. “Yeah, me too! Good luck Claire!” Eron winked at Claire, who had just given Eron the middle finger.

Claire's POV There was drop-dead silence in the room after I was done speaking. The look on both the alpha and my dad's faces was one of disbelief. I guess they couldn't imagine that I was actually choosing some foreigner outside the pack over Dylan. Sorry, Dad! I have made my choice. As for Dylan, he was totally dumbfounded. He never expected that I would be so decisive. They say the devil you know is better than the angel you don't. But at this point, I’ll do better to choose the angel I don’t know than spend the rest of my life with this devil.
