Neither Abdul nor I said anything until she gave up and walked out, no doubt, following her son. "You okay?" Abdul asked me gently. He pushed a glass of water into my line of vision. I hummed quietly, and grabbed the glass. My hands were shaky as I lifted the glass. I grabbed it with both hands, attempting to drink. My chest tightened with every sip I took. A tiny whimper escaped my lips.

There was one solitary, big book on a low table between them. "The title of the tale is The Binding of Autumn," he began, his voice an entrancing whisper just in harmony with the shriek of the fire. “It's the tale of a harvest god who offers a mortal woman a choice: one night of absolute freedom for one year of unimaginable riches for her people." He didn't move as his eyes met hers. "The consent is the matter at hand. It must be freely bestowed, not coerced, and whispered three times into the skin of his throat." “Do you have any idea what sort of story you're going to be reading me tonight?”

Suit pouted childishly at Anderson, and continued, “Do we have a deal, Mr. Anderson?” Anderson stared back and forth between Suit and the scroll. His mind was racing. The contract sounded simple enough. Straightforward, but he did not understand. ‘What did he mean by survive ten stories? Did he not say I was going to tell a story? What does survive the story mean?’ Question after question popped up into his head. He could not help himself. Ada asked, shaking “You witch, do you want to get me blind?” The man shouted angrily. Ada stood there thinking about how crazy the man sounded. How could he still be so arrogant after he tried forcing himself on her? But he does seem familiar. Adrian asked, reaching into the drawer in search of books. Arabella adjusted his disheveled hair, asking, “Do you want to hear the story about the superheroes? Or the…” “No.” Axel cut her off. He stretched his small hand to his Dad, pulling him onto the bed. “I don't want to hear fictional stories today.” Arabella and Adrian exchanged a glance, confused. “I want to hear the story about you two.” Axel looked between his mom and his dad, “From when you were small.” The room went quiet.

Together with the people as they turned to acknowledge her. Abigail was surprised, but she was still confident to her current appearance. The hood still covered her features, and she was sure no one would recognize her. “You deserve it, your storytelling is way better than any other I have ever heard,” She said seriously. The Bird Man’s eye beamed with pride, “You there is a fine and generous lady.” He said, and then the attention turned away from Abigail, “Now, who else has something positive to give to the Bird Man?”

His name is Ace but he is mostly known as Black Scorpion. He is very dangerous and ruthless. When he had first taken Ava, she had found a way to get a phone and contact me. She told me that she had been kidnapped by Ace and was trying to escape from his estate. Before I could ask her a few questions, the line went dead and I figured that she had been caught.
