HER BABY
Abigail replied quickly, peering around anxiously to check if anyone saw her flinch.
“I haven’t caught sight of you in a while,” he said, tilting his head to meet her gaze.
“I just… I just want to be left alone,” she mumbled, eyes darting away.
“Oh. Okay.” He paused, then softened his tone further. “But don’t hesitate to come to me if anything bothers you. Anything at all.”
Abigail nodded, clutching her headphones in trembling fingers, watching him wave goodbye. He’s always so kind… why does it make me want to cry more?
