They already finished their papers anyway. Ace got inside his car and drove out of the school compound, his destination was a mystery to himself but he soon found himself after hours of driving at the old neighborhood he used to live in. He parked his car at a corner and got out of the car. He slowly removed his sunglass and stared at the building before him. The place has lost his vibe after the fire outbreak but the peach tree was still there. The flowers has withered since it's summer and the tree looked weak. But that wasn't what he saw when he stared at the tree. All he saw was a young boy and young girl standing under the rain and exchanging chocolate bar.

“Pleasure is mine. Carolina did not do you justice in her descriptions.” My stomach twisted. “Bia,” I hissed under my breath. But she just flicked her hair, stepping closer to him. “So you save lives and bring pastries? That’s dangerously attractive.” Ace chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. He looked like he wanted to vanish into his jacket. “Uh… just thought I’d stop by. Didn’t mean to intrude.” “You’re not intruding,” I blurted, moving quickly to his side, maybe a little too fast. Girl number eleven was now too close to Ace, as if she wanted to sit on her lap. She kept nudging for his biceps, rubbing her arms against Ace’s from time to time. Ace seemed to be oblivious of the lustful stares he was getting from the girls flocking around him. “Got it” Karen came back catching he breathe with three books in her hands. “Here.” “What am I going to do with these?” grabbing the offered books to me, the book on top was entitled ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’

I smile when I see all the children who have been raised in this family and have made it grow more and more. By midday, my nerves were stretched thin. Ace didn’t raise his voice once. He didn’t threaten. He didn’t even directly reprimand me most of the time. He simply hovered, corrected, overruled—each small act delivered with precision, as if he were proving a point only he understood.

The lady inside greeted us with a broad smile as we stepped inside. I walked around each shelf for at least five minutes, I couldn't decide on which book to buy, my savings were limited, I haven't bought a birthday gift for Ace yet. A quiet sigh left my mouth as I eyed the books greedily. Is there a way I could take the entire shelves back home with me..... without having to pay for it?. I guess the lady out there would have something to say about that. Lost in my thoughts, I was barely aware of Ace standing behind me until his voice sounded dangerously close to my ears.

I set up behind the counter in case any customers come in and pull up our social media accounts. I turn the book over a few times in my hand, reading the description. The front cover has a bad ass looking guy on it with long dark hair, huge muscles wearing a shit ton of armor and carrying a huge sword. It looks pretty cool and I'm actually kind of interested in it. I pull out my phone and flip through my contacts until I get to my friend Jack. "What do you want? It's still early." He says as soon as he answers. I huff at him, looking at the clock.
