I stepped aside before his strike fully formed. His fist cut through empty air. For a split second, he faltered. Tried to recover. Too late. I moved in. Not with strength… With precision. My strike landed against his side. Clean and controlled. I felt the solid impact travel through my knuckles. Adrian lifted off the ground, thrown several meters back. I had only ever seen Malric send someone flying like that. That same force. That same impossible distance. Adrian’s body slammed into the ground with a heavy impact that echoed across the arena.

Adalia felt a pang of guilt surge into her heart. But she wasn’t going to allow herself or Archer to think about the idiotic sacrifice he had made on her behalf. Kincaid nodded. They made their way to the back of the building into the sparring ground and to a site that shocked Kincaid. "This should be fun," Liam said, sitting down on one of the bleacher chairs and patting the next one for Kincaid to sit on. Kincaid could not believe what he was seeing. In the middle of the sparring ground, the new girl, Adrienne, standing face to face with Lucy, one of the best warriors of her age in the pack - both amongst males and females.

I couldn’t do it to save my life and one time I wanted to be a vegetarian—it’s like telling a lion to survive on grass. I finally noticed what was ahead of me and saw Adrian—shirtless. Till now, I have no idea why that intimidates me, even when I’ve seen it more than twice now. There was sweat over his forehead, and it looked like his sweat was made out of gold, making his body resonate like a god’s own. There was a big rough stone on an iron table and Adrian was sharpening a sword against it, which so much passion. He had sunglasses on and would have smelt me a hundred meters away but only stopped to look when he heard my feet move on the grass.

“Mama…” The sound cut through the Dominion’s weight like a blade. Adrien’s spine straightened, his hand tightening on the hilt of his sword. “She’s not yours,” he growled, his eyes locked on Kael. “She’s not Dominion’s. She’s not anyone’s but herself.” Kael’s laugh was hollow. “Then let’s see if she remembers your name when she tears you apart.” He lunged. Adrien met him head-on, steel clashing in a shower of sparks. Every strike rattled through his broken ribs, every parry tore fire through his veins, but he didn’t falter.

We go back and forth like this; I feel like I’m close to giving up with all the jabs at my sides. Fuck, these ribs will take forever to heal. Time is running out, and I know that I had to move fast because the more I block and punch him, the angrier he seems to get. This has to end, I have to pull a rabbit out of a fucking hat, or I’m dead in the next few minutes! Taking a breath that burns like the pits of Raerin’s rivers, I leap forward, but Creed grabs me around the waist, his grip like iron as he wrenches me off balance and slams me to the ground.

I also stare at Theo in similar surprise. "He is very athletic. Let's give him training and get him into the team," Adrien says and slumps down on the side of the path. "Hmm..yeah!" I nod and sit down beside him, trying to catch my breath. "Oh! Adonis, you aren't catching me?" Theo squeals from the distance. "Okay, both of you can try to catch me. C'mon, Adonis! Adrien! Catch me!" He claps his hands. "How the fuck is he not even panting?!" Adrien asks me, enviously.

“Someone tried to kill me, Isabella. That’s not something you spin.” She didn’t waver. “We’ll handle it. You focus on breathing.” The private elevator sighed open, steel doors parting. Damien slipped in first, scanning corners with military precision before giving Adrien a single nod. The space tightened the moment Adrien stepped inside, silence swelling thick around them. Adrien rested beside the mirrored wall, his arms were folded, and his eyes on Damien. His knuckles were etched with old scars, a thin line dragging down his jaw. He was built for war.

I have to follow. We arrived at the building of Aurora’s apartment, and she was standing right in front of it, talking to a tall guy. The guy has soft, blonde hair. His figure is bulky with clear muscles under his police short sleeves. But when he turns around to us, his round chin instantly lights up a flare in the back of my head-- The Three Musketeers! Not the book. It was us! I used to play fencing with Adrian. We met another boy at the fencing class and we became friends first, and later “the three musketeers”. It was decades ago though. I was only around ten when I dropped fencing.
