"Mom, dad, can I ask you for a favor?" Both my parents just looked at me as if to say 'spit it out already'. I smiled but continued. "Could you two watch over Rae? I need to go speak to her father in the dungeon." "Why is he in the dungeon?" My dad asked. "He is the Rogue King." I said, nervously. They both just stared at me in shock. Then my dad regained his senses first. "WOW. I did not expect that!" I nodded in understanding. I was about to ask if they agreed to watch over Rae when the next question stopped me short.

My fingers were still sticky with the evidence of my impatience, and I could feel my cheeks flush at the thought of either one of them walking in on me like this. I tied my robe hastily, not caring how disheveled I looked. My mind raced with possibilities—Adrien’s smirk, his sharp eyes trailing down my body, or Aries’ brooding presence as he took over the room without saying a word. But when I yanked the door open, the air felt like it had been sucked out of my lungs. “Dad?” He stood there with a practiced smile, his dark suit crisp and his hair slicked back like he was fresh from some corporate meeting. For a moment, I thought I was hallucinating. My father? Here? After all these months?

The flame sputtered, struggling for life, barely able to illuminate the ancient cracks webbing across the ceiling. I knew this place. I was convinced he had it worse. “Were you able to find it out?” I genuinely wanted to know if he was successful. His first response was a loud laugh. Like he was mocking me for even asking. “My mother snuck out of her chambers in the thick of night, came to me and showed me the spell.”

I admit, tracing the tip of my tongue along my cheek, recalling the life-altering conversation that changed everything for me. “Just three months before the bank sold our house at an auction, my dad took me for a morning walk. It was his usual routine - two brisk laps around the neighborhood, a quick jog through the gardens, and a short break by the lake for about seven minutes. That spot by the lake was my dad’s favorite place. I’ve been there more times than anywhere else in the world. It was incredibly peaceful, you know? So green, so blue, so vibrant. Once, my dad mentioned his desire to build a small cabin there for leisure."

Deal.” Poppy gave a tiny cheer, then took my phone, under my strict supervision, to the rug to show him Adrian’s castle first, then Sebastian’s castle, then Bunny’s position as legal counsel, then the spot where “Daddy Sebastian will stand if the dino comes, but he’s not allowed to step on the swimming pool.”

He muttered awkwardly. “And you have never heard of a bloody telephone? Or, get this, something even better, as werewolves, this thing we share, called a fucking mindlink, you fool. Either one would have worked just fine in this situation, I do believe Adam, do you not? Rather than being here in the middle of the night causing a scene and putting Zaine’s business all over pack!” My Dad’s eyes were dark as he stepped a little closer to Adam, causing Adam to step further away in retreat. He knew he had fucked up. My Dad had made that more than clear.

I thought Dad was finally going to grieve for me. I thought he would rush over and hold me tight. Excited, I drifted to his side, wanting to nuzzle his arm like a kitten. But what happened next plunged me right back into an icy abyss. After taking a deep breath, Dad screamed at my corpse with all his might, "You little brat!
