Chen handed him another book from beside him. Dean glanced at it and casually declined, "The last one was really good, this is enough for today. I’ll look at this one tomorrow." "Wow, you really made me look good in this," Dean said, a little surprised. Chen chuckled, a glint of pride in his eyes. "Isn't it because you're good-looking?"

Nothing about the author or even details about the book. I flipped the cover and opened the book and a picture fell out. A picture of me and Alexia. I had my hand wrapped around her waist and she was smiling up at me and I was looking at her like she hung the moon, like I wanted to eat her up. She looked so painfully beautiful in the picture that my heart ached. When was this? When was this picture taken? Why was I staring at her like that with my hand around her waist? I flipped the picture and saw a small note written it.

After that he stood and left me in the room. Now barely an hour later he sends me a trunk full of books. Ella moved to stand behind me and I could hear her sharp intake of breath when her eyes landed on the books. "They're beautiful, right?" Ella only nodded her head and leaned down to touch the spines of one of the books. They weren't really books to be precise, well they were books but not really big ones, almost like journals, just bigger and fresher. The covers were embossed in a beautiful flower pattern, each color having a flower of its corresponding color on it.

Now, I unexplainably feel almost euphoric. Something nestled deep within is singing to me. It's both comforting and terrifying. Yawning, I get to my feet, glancing at the bed, only to notice something sitting upon the side table. Frowning, I circle the bed, realising it's a book with a note lying atop it. Picking it up, I twist the book over, reading the title. This is easily the most beautiful book I've ever seen. The spine has a golden pattern printed over it, leeching onto the front, twisting around the letters of the title.

Then, quietly grumbling to himself, he gets to his feet with haste and urgency. I watch him delve into a corner of the room, rifling through a small shelf of books hidden until then, until he finds a particular book, his eyes lighting up. He rushes back to us, placing the dusty old book on the table. The cover, crafted from animal skin, resembles one I own. He flips through the pages, stopping at one and revealing a drawing of a young woman with a wide, vibrant smile that radiates pride and joy untouched by the world. The artist has done their best with limited resources, clearly depicting her beautiful emerald green eyes, soft pink lips, and majestic chestnut brown hair.
