"Most of her life, the princess was protected by high towers, walls, and secret magic.”

No matter how good a dream is, we always have to snap back from it. All fairy tales usually have a happy ending, the prince saves the princess from an ogre, a knight in shining armor saves a lady from a hulky brute of a man and so forth. But the world lies, that is not what always happens. Fairy tales rarely have a happy ending. The prince will save the princess and trip down some stairs, fall down and break his neck. Or the lady will live for a few years as a wife to the night and die from child birth. The story tellers never give the actual tale, the sell what appeases to the eye and heart.

"Halflings don't belong in Faerie. You should be home, slaughtering the masses." "It seems as if your own Fae Magick would disagree." Bailey waved her hand dismissively. "I'm going to go out on a limb and say you were probably hoping to be the future Queen. You seem the type. Snobby, bratty, beautiful. Anyone could peg you for a society slut. Fame-whore. Gold-digger. "Y-your blood!? Do you mean with your dragon's blood? U-using that fairy tale method!?" "It’s not that dramatic, but I had to admit that it was a lot more complicated." Daniel stroked the back of his neck, looking hesitant to say this. "All these fairy tales have something in common: one has to kill a dragon and bathe in dragon blood if they want immortality, wealth, and a long life—whatever they wish. All humans thought so, but that is not how it works. You know, how many humans died after bathing in dragon blood, just like the fairy tales they believe?"
