“And now?” I laced my fingers through his. “Now, we live.” The war was over. And for the first time, the future was finally ours.

She leaned into his embrace, closing her eyes as she let out a deep breath. “It’s over,” she whispered. Alejandro rested his chin on her shoulder, his lips brushing against her ear. “It is.” She turned in his arms, looking up at him. His dark eyes held something she hadn’t seen in a long time. The war was over. Miguel was gone. The shadows of the past no longer loomed over them. But now, a new question remains. “What happens next?” Aria asked softly. Alejandro exhaled, his thumb brushing over her cheek. “We build something new.”

“She would not have given you that.” Confusion cracked his composure and that was all the confirmation I needed. I fired once, clean and decisive. His body collapsed against the overturned desk, sliding to the concrete floor as silence swallowed the room. Behind me, my men waited. The war was over. But no one spoke in victory. No one rejoiced and no one uttered a word. But it was over. Clearing this base is warning enough to the others. Now, there was no one left to fight. No one left to hunt.
