It was a small miracle that I managed to keep myself from bursting into disbelieving laughter (or worse, shooting up in protest), but only the goddess knew how long that would’ve lasted for if I didn’t hear Michael scoff at his son’s assertion.
“Yes, yes, of course,” he said with a nod, sarcasm dripping off each word. “How did I never think of that? She asked to have you drug her with an almost fatal dose of a substance that is fatal to our species and fly her out to our Pack unconscious, across state lines.”
“That wasn’t what I meant—”
“THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT YOU JUST SAID!” Michael barked, and I almost jumped as the full timbre of his voice echoed through the room, sending things shaking.
