They stood up to go to the room where all Agent Smith’s team were busy with their investigation. Agent Smith turned to his team, addressing them with conviction. “Everyone, I want to introduce you to Ms. Abby, who’s going to be a valuable asset to our investigation. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside her in the past, and I can vouch for her exceptional skills. Abby pursed her lips, not wanting to contradict his statement. She felt the weight of everyone’s eyes on her. To them, they saw a beautiful, confident woman in her mid-20s, dressed in a sharp, formal office suit. Her soft features and slender body might have led some to doubt what she could do.

Lyra couldn't take her eyes off the stranger. If she had encountered him alone on a road, she might have mistaken him for an ordinary traveler. There was no crown on his head. No armor. No overwhelming display of power. Yet every nerve in her body screamed that something was wrong. The Bone Crown had begun throbbing the moment he appeared, each pulse driving deeper into her skull until it felt less like pain and more like recognition. A recognition older than memory. The man noticed. His faint smile never quite reached his eyes. "You remember more than I expected."

"Come meet the dead." "Charming," one of the strangers said, grinning crookedly. Nova gestured to them. "This is Wren and Milo. Wren's the one who looks like she could kill a man with her pinky. Milo's the one who'd help bury the body." Wren waved with two fingers, her nails black and sharp-looking. "Don’t believe everything she says. I’d use my whole hand." Milo, a boy with a mess of dark curls and a permanent half-smile, nodded. "I only help with bodies if snacks are involved."

At least, they agreed on one thing. Aubrey was innocent and too good for bad things. She never lied, never swore, never sass, never did anything bad. She was the perfect daughter. Just ten, but Autumn knew when she became a teenager, she would be a handful. At ten, she was already showing the sign of Olsen's blood running through her. She had perfected the look, perfected the tone, and boy did she know how to use it to get what she wanted. She was best friends with Brianna's first child and son and with Meredith's second child and daughter.

Aubrey stated, sipping her coffee cup. "Few days ago?" , I asked Aubrey in surprise. “That's right, my old man, you passed out a few days ago, about two days. I had a hard time getting him back to his mansion. You also have to thank the skeleton warriors I summoned, thanks to them I was able to bring you home.”

“I never had a mother. And if I ever had one, it would certainly be not you, Mrs. Morris. I think you got the wrong person. I’ll excuse myself then.” Aubrey said and made her way to the door. Rhyan immediately went down the stairs and before Aubrey could reach the door, Rhyan grabbed her arm. “Where do you think you’re going? Have I not told you to stay put?” He said. “Oh my god… What was that just now? Is she really Mrs. Morris’s daughter?”

I creep closer, keeping myself tucked behind the brushes surrounding the cavern of tranquillity, watching as they exchange heated remarks. “You should’ve let me kill them,” Aubrey complains, her tone heightened with agitation as she remains oblivious to my presence not far from where she stands, “-especially that bloody witch. They already have one abomination helping that mutt out; they don’t need another. Having one more on their side will only be a bigger problem for us later on down the line,” she patronises her companion, “-we should have taken care of her.”

"You're very beautiful." Aubrey walked over to me and put her hands on the waistband of my shorts. "Join me. I've wanted to fuck you since I met you." Aubrey was almost as tall as I was.
