"Bestie" Pamela said, and went back to her happy cheerful mood. She glanced at Alice and the two friends bursted into laughter. "You both have bonded, right?" Pamela asked. I walk towards the door and check the peephole, just in case, what I see on the other side has me excited. I call out Laynie's name and she comes over to me, head down once again. I make a mental note to start lifting that damn chin more. She needs to be the kind of woman that walks with her head held high and I will make it my life mission to make her one. She stands there with an almost worried look while I'm smiling at her like she just won the lottery. The doorbell rings again. I snap out of it and open the door wide. Laynie screams, jumps up and down and claps her hands. I am so enthralled with her, that I get almost knocked over by Anna running in the house doing the same thing, girls.

Althea assured him, but he only smiled and ruffled her hair. “Shelly is my best friend,” Althea added, beaming widely at us. "And you are my best friend." Shelly agreed. "Aw!" Shan cried while the corners of my lips pulled into a wide smile.

But fake or not, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of security in his arms that my body began to relax. So far, Al was the only one who didn’t cower in fear of my smile. I don’t know if he is just a weird psycho with an odd fetish, but maybe his reaction made me think that my smile probably isn’t that bad. But when I remembered Tyrelle’s response, all that thought went down the drain. I was foolish to think that someone other than Al could stand my smile. I was even crazy to think that Tyrelle and I might even be friends. But I guess that’s just it. We aren’t friends. We are just acquaintances who are under a contract.

Allen chuckled at the guy's reaction. Remembering what had happen made him want to brag about it to his friend. So he grabbed his Laptop and sent a video chat link to his friend which they immediately answered. "I know this isn't some kind of a normal meeting." Kim annoyingly said which made Shawn nod in agreement. "Since when did we talk about some serious stuff, eh?" Allen asked them rasing his right brow. "You had a point." Shawn said. Shawn Trevor and Kimmon Grey Fallon was his two best buddies. They're the two guys who helped Allen on the park when he got beaten up.

David asked, another one of Alina’s friends who knows about their situation. Alina nodded her head. Amy laughed out loud when she saw what she was wearing. “She looks stupid,” she chuckled. “She’s still pretty, though,” David said. “Simple…but pretty.” Alina glared at her friend and took a swig of her beer. “She’s not pretty, right Amy?” she bitterly asked. Amy looked at the girl and hesitatingly nodded her head. “Compared to you, she’s nothing,” she assured, causing Alina to have a boost of ego.

Alan smiled and straightened himself. “Now, if you’ve come to your senses, you should act professionally and finish what you’ve started. I have an online meeting.” Alan put his hands in his pants pockets and returned to his usual relaxed demeanor. I bit the inside of my mouth, holding myself back from humiliating myself any further. “What’s your relationship with Amy Schmidt?” My voice was sharp, and my eyes were squinting to scrutinize any expression that might give me a clue. He fell silent, and his smile momentarily vanished from his face. Then he shrugged. “We have the same surname. Does that matter?”

Suddenly, two annoying, familiar voices slice through the crowd. Alyssa's friends. Chelsea's got a toddler balanced on her hip like it's a designer purse, and Ashley's wearing that same look she had when we first met—like every man here is a goddamn steak fresh off the grill.
