53 Alex As the car glided through the bustling city streets, Elena turned to me, her expression soft yet probing. “Alex,” she said quietly, her voice barely audible over the hum of the engine. “I know you’re grateful I dragged you out today, but this—this isn’t enough. You can’t just bury yourself in your room forever. What’s really going on?”

I followed behind a few inches away from everyone. When I reached the top of the stairs Alex stood at the door with his arms out as if he wanted a hug. “ no thank you.” I muttered looking toward the ground “ if I hug you I’ll cry. I don’t want to cry right now”

Elena asked angrily with her hands folded. "Wow! What a nice place," Alex complimented, with his eyes admiring the whole place. "How did you know that I work here?" Elena inquired, ignoring his kind gestures. "Well, I always know how to get what I want," Alex boasted and wore a smirk. Elena raised her eyebrows, she still wasn't convinced. "Oh really? so you are now a cyborg or let me say a magician." She looks intense. "Hmm, you got me there," Alex said and Elena laughed and nodded her head sarcastically. "Ok, I went to your apartment and someone there told me where I could get you," He confessed and stared at Elena with soft eyes.

A chill ran through Scarlett as she heard that, as if she were only beginning to understand the kind of danger she was truly in. Later that night… Alex stepped out of his tent and, upon reaching the forest, leaped forward and transformed into a wolf, racing at full speed between the trees. He ran toward the elven lands. When he arrived, he asked for the princess, and some elves told him that at this hour she was usually by a lake beyond the mountain. Alex went there and found Edelin, the elven princess, sitting at the water’s edge with her feet submerged. “Hello, Edelin. How are you?”

“And you have nothing about any of them?” “She doubts every word that is said. She looks around and listens when no one is watching, to the things that others tend to ignore.” Her breathing quickened. “And Elias… he’s good, Alpha. Sharp. He’s protective of Valerie, suspicious of everyone. I tried to get close, but…” “But you failed,” I finished for her, leaning closer until my voice dropped to a growl. “You’ve always been good at words, Ms. Lewis. Not so much at delivery. And I am now tired of that bullshit.”

It was a pretty tiring fight, so we tried catching our breaths while watching the creature melt to the ground. "What the fuck was that?" I said after catching my breath. Axel wiped the sweat on his brow and started cleaning his knife with a wet leaf. "I don't know. Might be one of Cupid's traps." "Traps?" "Yeah," he nodded his head. "Aren't you supposed to be the one who knows his story? Doesn't everyone know that it's quite hard to meet Alpha Cupid?"

Alexander let out a sigh of relief and allowed himself a moment of relaxation before making his way back to the hunting party. Alexander kept the encounter with the rabbit to himself, not wanting to admit to anyone that he had allowed a potential catch to escape. He was adamant in his refusal to harm innocent animals and would not hear anyone who suggested otherwise. He chose to keep his quickly expanding empathy as his own personal secret, only allowing it to be shared when he wanted it to be.
