Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jameson watching me with a smirk on his face, as if he were savoring every second of my torment.
Alice let out a soft shaky breath. “You think I killed your mother? I want you to understand, Lauren. I want you to see the bigger picture.”
“The bigger picture?” I echoed, glancing at Jameson, who was now leaning casually against the doorframe, as if this whole situation was nothing more than a mild inconvenience. “What are you talking about? You were the last person to see her. I don’t even know you! Why did you kill her?”
“No, Lauren,” Alice replied, her voice eerily calm. “I didn’t kill your mother. But I know who did. And I know why.”
