My heart pounded so hard I thought I’d throw up.
One of the girls in our group — tall, black hair tied in a braid — was chosen first. Her number flashed red on her uniform: 0335.
She stepped onto the platform, trembling so badly she almost missed her footing.
The Game Master cooed, “Now, now, contestant 0335, no need to be shy! Show us your grace!”
The metallic wall came alive with a grinding roar, slowly sliding forward. The shape glowing on it looked almost doable, arms stretched to the side, one leg bent.
