With trembling fingers, I flip through the pages until I find Garnet City. My heart nearly stops as I see the entire city marked in red, labeled "Feral Alpha's Territory." At the bottom of the page, a small note reads: "While Garnet City is an entirely human settlement, it falls within the territory of the Feral Alpha, formerly known as Dominicus Amadeus. The city is situated on the former grounds of the Amadeus pack."

“I swear I’m going to take revenge… The Alpha will suffer… I’ll make him pay….” *** SIX days had passed. Amara stepped outside of the small wooden lodge for the very first time. Looking around the place, she noticed that the human was living in the middle of the forest. The tiny lodge was rustic and old, as if it had been there for a decade, and has experienced solid summers and rains and could still stand up with such dignity. The smells of plants, trees, dried leaves, and the salty mist of morning fog were very inviting to her nose. She inhaled heavily and then gazed up at the clear blue sky. The clouds were formed in perfect shapes and slightly moving to the west.

It was something she would miss when she returned to her body. ‘Alpha Evander failed to recapture Willowbrook,’’ Beta Baltir’s voice floated across her mind from the mind link as she slipped into Rhys’ trousers. All thoughts about jerking off and satisfying Rhys' wolf left. Amira smirked, thrilled that the Alpha had failed. Her plan worked. ‘Casualties?’ Amira asked.

“Addresses, routines, anything?” “Yeah I don’t know who the hell you are but I certainly don’t fucking answer to you,” Jonah snapped back, Cian appeared to be a little taken aback by it all. “Dane I’ve sent you an email with all the other information but I’ll leave you with this, I was able to track the SUV as it left the Den but somewhere around Midtown they dropped off the grid. I could feel it. I was next in line for the position of the Alpha. It was two months till the Carmella, and I'd not yet found my mate. I was going to suffer for being the freak of the Pack. This was a big crime. Anyone who ever happened to pass their eighteenth year without finding their mate, here in the South Pack, was considered an anomaly. They were always banished, while the unfortunate ones ended up being killed. I swallowed hard at the thought. A knock on the door jerked me away from my thought. "Come in," I said in a placid tone, sensing it was my mother. I watched in the mirror as the door swung aside and true to my expectation, it was her.

“There might be more of a response if you contacted them directly. You know how they feel about werewolf society and hierarchies.” Damn it! I threw down the reports that I was looking over. He was right. I hated dealing with the hunters and their society. They were cowards, hiding behind stolen magic of witches they’d hunted down in the past. If it wasn’t for the need for peace, I would have happily moved toward wiping them out. As alpha of the strongest pack in North America, I knew that I could unite our packs and rid our continent of them if I really wanted to. But how many innocent lives would be lost if we went to war with the hunters?

I let her words settle in the air as I thought to myself. A lean, grizzled man behind her added, “We served your father. Tyran Demartel. Alpha of Moonstone pack. We failed to protect him in the moments that mattered, failed to find you, his daughter to extend that protection as well but this time, we're not hoping to fail again.” A few of them lifted their heads. There was no shame in their faces, only unbridled grit. Every one of them looked at me like I was not just a potential Alpha to them, but I was their last chance.

But I do not flinch. I do not give in. Finally, the collapses to the ground, spent. The other guard approaches me. I yank him to the ground. I am on top of him. I pin him. My sisters gasp. "I could kill you," I say. "Stop!" a voice calls from behind. "You will not kill him." I turn to look behind me. It is the wolf from the forest. The Alpha.
