Kieran walked in at that moment too, and he smiled, showing me that he heard what I said to my mother. "Oh, you are here?" Luna Lisa called to her excitedly. "Yes, Luna." He answered. He cleared his throat twice and looked at me. "I heard that the Alpha was back, and I decided to visit him." Wait! What?! Did Kieran just call me the Alpha? Woah! I looked at the man to be sure I didn't hear the wrong thing. He cleared his throat once again and averted his eyes immediately after we came in contact with each other. I smiled, knowing that he was embarrassed to have admitted that loud for all to hear.

That female coughed several times, then stroked her neck while shooting daggers toward Kayden using her eyes. “What the fuck is this? Who are these barbaric males?” She asked Nina in anger. Ignoring her, I hefted my hand and signaled for her to sit. “Sit beside Nina. I’m Nina’s cousin and also her Alpha. So, rest assured, I won’t hurt you.” “That’s what the bad guys say. And you,” she sat, then pointed at Kayden with her forefinger. “Stop glaring at me.” “Don’t mind him. That’s just his default expression. I am Kieran, by the way. And the one who shoved you against the wall is Kayden,” Kieran said with a charming smile. See, among us, Kieran was best at making the best first impression.

Kieran is trying to reason in a sarcastic manner with Alpha Damon, who is even more pissed at his words. “Treason is everything you have done to betray this land. And how dare you still speak of a war that was even caused by your mistakes? We are all players in your games, aren’t we?” Kieran evades another one of his attacks, but he almost didn’t see the other one. Alpha Damon’s claws almost bite into Kieran’s chest, but he staggers backwards to avoid it. The effect causes him to lose his balance, and he falls to the ground. He settles back on one of his knees before he finally stands upright. His jaw twitches, and through his lashes, he watches Alpha Damon.

Kieran got up looking annoyed. "Yes, he died, but at the moment you left, the moon goddess gave him a second chance at life. Isn't that a great thing and a sign that the moon goddess doesn't joke about the Shadows?" Alpha Ezra spat and I became dumbfounded. This is the young man? He looked good. His dark brown hair and his eyes were twining and they looked beautiful. "This is Beta Luke. The Beta Alpha Kieran almost made us lose." Alpha Ezra said to us. "If he isn't dead, he has no reason to be here and there is no reason to be having grudges," Kieran said to him.

Alpha Kieran turns to Seren and asks, "Did she attack anyone?" Seren shakes her head. "Was she communicating with rogue bands?" "I," Seren starts but stops, her lips thinning into a line.

He didn’t respond immediately, and the younger man tilted his head in anticipation. “I mean, I figured we weren’t just going to ignore the literal mate of the Alpha sitting right there like she’s a ghost,” he added, raising an eyebrow. Kieran finally exhaled through his nose and turned his gaze toward me. “This is Ivy,” he said flatly. “She’s… my mate.” “Oh, wow. Ivy,” the younger one said, lips quirking. “I’m Kael. Kieran’s younger brother. Don’t worry, I bite way less than he does.”

I knocked firmly. "Enter," Kieran's deep, commanding voice rumbled from inside. I pushed the door open with my shoulder and stepped into the room. Kieran was standing behind his desk, deep in a serious briefing with Luke and Marcus, all three of them looking over a map of the southern border. The air was thick with serious warrior business, but the absolute second Kieran's golden eyes landed on me, his entire face softened. The hard, ruthless mask of the Alpha King melted away into pure, breathtaking warmth.
