Dahlia’s POV I must be something of a kind in our history, to be an Alpha with no wolf, and one Beta. Damon often says that his power comes from his people, and I always took that as some hypocritical, political slogan, one to earn the loyalty of his people. I was wrong. Turns out one doesn’t need to have a fortune or a pack to be an Alpha. So long as you take the pledge from another, even just one, you can be an Alpha. Only, with tiny power.

Dawn questioned her father, asking, "What did you mean by that?" “I mean, why would Malachi bother chasing an omega woman?” Joseph says with disgust. Dawn arrived, and disbelief washed over everyone at the table; shock reigned supreme. Dawn was distressed by her father's cruel and disrespectful treatment of wolves based on their social standing. The distinction between Alphas and Omegas lies solely in the power that makes Alphas powerful leaders. Omegas, despite their weakness, remain individuals deserving of respect. "That was incredibly rude, Dad. Why did you say that about someone?" Disgust was clear in Dawn's eyes as she asked.

I turned back to my laptop and read through the words again for the millionth time. "An Alpha is the leader of a pack of werewolves. It is the strongest, most powerful and by far the most lethal variety of Werewolf."I continued reading with the lump in my throat and the trembling of my voice. "The Alpha's are the strongest, wisest, highest-ranking members of the wolf pack, as they hold absolute control over their pack members,"My eyes scrolled down. There was a lot of information. "The Alphas are responsible for leading the pack on the hunt,"I paused.

“I found the answer to your problem.” I lift my head slowly, staring at her. Unless she found out she has some hidden goddess powers, I doubt it. “Really? You found a way for me to cheat death?” My tone is dry, sharp enough to make her roll her eyes. “First of all, stop talking about death.” She leans forward, lowering her voice. “And second, yes. I might have.” I blink. “What is it?” “Remember when I told you the alphas choose an omega to serve them after we finish training? Usually in final year?”

Then he smiled. “Congratulations, that’s no small feat.” I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding. “You’re going to be the greatest Apex Blackcroft has ever seen,” he proclaimed, his certainty unwavering and contagious. “But hear me when I say this—you can’t do it alone. No one survives Blackcroft on sheer will, no matter how strong they are. Power draws predators. Influence draws knives.” His gaze sharpened as he added. “And if you must have allies, there is none more dangerous or more loyal than the five most powerful Alphas this academy has ever produced. You need us beside you. Whether you like it or not.”

He smirked and turned the corner, walking towards his bedroom. Waverly couldn't believe what she had just heard. He gave Christopher the Alpha ring? An Alpha's ring was one of their most prized possessions, as it represented all of the courage and strength of the previous leaders and was an heirloom passed down through generations. No Alpha would ever consider giving their ring, especially placing it up for a bet, even to their Beta.

The first was a female and she barely knew her that much since she's married to her mate. The second oldest was Cyrus, who stays in the alpha's household ever since he got his mate. Yeah, he is soon to be the next beta of their pack though. And the least oldest. Alexander. He has nothing to write home about, that is in Petal's point of view. Just like their father, he bully and picked on her, making everything more difficult for her. He cares less about her existence and make her do his work, watching his friends pick on her and turn her into a laughing stock, forgetting the fact that they are siblings.

I would have expected that he would be present and ready to fight to ensure that nobody tried to rule over him. Nevertheless, I understood his fear and I'm sure of their other Alpha's also felt the same way. "I'll never use my powers for wrong," I said staring at the man straight in the eyes. "We will never be greedy or power hungry like Thorne" Satisfied with my response, the Alpha nodded and took his seat. "Now that has been settled. We'll proceed outside to finish the rest of the ceremony.

“I’m sorry if my comment had implied such Crinka, but you must know that I am saying the truth. The voice is fucking persistent” I press the blade closer. “Crinka step the fuck back!”, Ruarc barked. It’s a shame I don’t pay attention to dogs. “I’m not doing shit”. “Crinka!” There it is. The fierce authority I had hoped to see one day in an Icelander. Ruarc bore that fierce power that only alphas bore. In that twinge of a moment, I was dully reminded of my status before engaging with royalty. Nothing but an omega. Get one of the disobedient omegas to save her” His request only seemed to infuriate Alpha further. “She is also a disobedient omega and only a mate can stand in her place, and she has none.” He made a point to emphasize the last word as if I wasn’t already acutely aware that he was my mate. He just didn’t want anyone to know about me. I turned my attention away from their conversation then stared at the pole I would be strapped to, and couldn’t stop the tears that silently streamed down my face.
