“Because your friend… is already dying.” Silence filled the room, broken only by Dante’s shallow, ragged breathing. The healer slowly turned to Luke, eyes narrowed in worry and fascination. “Tell me about the Alpha who did this,” she said quietly. “Who is she and whose child is she?” Luke shook his head helplessly. “I know nothing about her,” he murmured. “I only know… she was a Luna who became an Alpha.” The healer froze, her breath catching in her throat. “A Luna…” she whispered. “Who became an Alpha?”

Standing there at the front of the pack was the Alpha and his Luna and their children, the Alpha in line and one of Deltas. The person who stepped forward first was Alpha Luis, dressed in a leather jacket and a tight fitting shirt. His Luna, Luna Celestia, her slender arms wrapped around her torso. Her long midnight colored hair draped over her shoulders and falling around her back. She was a lot younger than Alpha Luis, but that's because generally Alphas don't mate until later in their ruling. The Luna was dressed in a white pantsuit to show her feminine power and tall, polished heels that still only put her at the Alpha's shoulder.

Staring down at Xavier before he turned to Bianca, who seemed in disbelief. “So Luna Bianca. Tell me why you should question the Alpha King” Bianca was still unconvinced. “No way, it must have been the Captains who helped her get to where she is. Her? Kill countless rogues? I laid my hand on top of the water and watched the little ripples bounce off my skin. "Your father..." I trailed off. I didn't know if it was a sensitive subject. I turned and saw his twisted face, a thick crease between his brows. "Never mind, forget I said anything." I laid a hand to his shoulder. He looked at me and sighed. "What's a Luna?" I changed the subject quickly. He tilted his head back up and ran a hand through his damp hair. "An Alpha's mate. It's the female Alpha of a pack." He watched my reaction. I was the Luna, right? Is that possible for a human to be?

Lacy chastised me. “I’m going to after I’m done with payroll.” “Oh, good call. Well, I'll see you two later.” “Bye,” I told Lacy. Lacy walked from my office and Sloan took a seat again as I got back to my work. As I typed away, Sloan asked a few more questions. “I get what an Alpha, Beta, and Gamma do, but what is a Luna and what does she do?” “The Luna is the Alpha’s mate. She helps with the Alpha duties and manages the packhouse.”
