Tears rolled down his face. The ring of wolves around him glanced at each other and moved in closer. A black wolf with a notched ear cocked his head, moved forward slowly and used his nose to push the rogue onto his back. He growled when the Beta didn't move fast enough. The black wolf stared at the his eyes. He looked away and laid on his back, pulling his head back to bare his throat. The black wolf opened his mouth and held the male by the neck. He growled and bit down enough to keep hold and shook his prey who remained absolutely still.

I settled into a quiet corner, hoping to lose myself in the story. The book started like any other werewolf novel, talking about full moons and shifting. But then, I turned the page and my breath caught. There was a picture. Not the usual handsome man turning into a wolf, this was different. This wolf was massive with glowing red eyes and thick, dark fur. The caption underneath read, “Cursed Alphas.” It looked… powerful. Intimidating.

“I did, Ava, I’m following you, Alpha Jacob is staying with the boys.” I slowed to a trot, letting him catch up to me. “Rogues.” “Fuck,” Beta Alexander swore through the link. Artemis howled into the sky, a howl that called all our wolves to attention. Artemis was an alpha, her call was just as powerful as Alpha Jacob’s. Beta Alexander answered the howl, as did Alpha Jacob, followed by all the warriors we had on patrol. “Alpha Ava, how many wolves do you need?” Alpha Jacob asked over the link. Alpha? That was a problem for later.

It was Alpha, and boy, did it smell really amazing, like home. Allen shook her head as she tried to concentrate on Ohm's scent, which was barely there, and before she could get it, she was tackled on the ground and was now laying on her back with another wolf pinning her down. The wolf was huge, and it smelled like the same alpha she had been smelling before. The wolf's fur was black with a reddish tint, and his eyes were gold. He was gorgeous, and Allen had never seen a wolf like that before. When Allen looked up, she saw the Alpha growling at Allen and showing his canine teeth. Allen whimpered and closed her eyes. She knew this was a bad idea. She should not have run after Ohm, but of cour

I just knew it. Suddenly, the door slammed open. Beta Conrad rushed in, his chest heaving, and beside him was another wolf—an actual wolf with silver fur and piercing blue eyes. "Alpha!" Conrad shouted. "Stand down!" The beast snarled louder, fangs bared. The silver wolf approached cautiously, then did something strange. It howled—not a warning, not a threat, but something softer. Calming. Almost like a lullaby in wolf language. Maxine's claws twitched. His growl faltered.

My wolf revels in the simple joy of the run, the temporary freedom from human worries. The moon hangs high overhead, bathing the forest in light that filters through the canopy. My Beta, Alaric, a massive gray wolf with battle scars crisscrossing his muzzle, flanks me on the right. He's been by my side since I took the mantle of Alpha after Lyla's father died. On my left runs Aria, the pack's head warrior, her russet fur gleaming as she moves with lethal grace.

Was this what it truly felt like to be Alpha? And then, as if on cue, I raised my head and let out a hauntingly beautiful howl that pierced through the stillness. It was a sound that seemed to echo in the depths of my soul, stirring something deep within me and as I watched in awe, all one hundred and seven wolves joined in, their voices blending together in a harmonious symphony that seemed to transcend time and space.

A flash of silver out of the corner of his eye drew his eyes up to see a slight shimmer in the air before they all disappeared into it, a sword sticking out of his Luna after she jumped in front of an advancing warrior from the crowd.
