“Annalisa? What’s wrong?”
“A terrible dream,” I whispered, throwing myself into his arms. “The most awful dream! I dreamt I married Spencer, and we were trapped in a loveless castle, surrounded by…” I paused for effect, “cauliflower.”
Adrian blinked, his lips twitching at the corners. “Cauliflower?”
“Yes!” I exclaimed, burying my face in his chest. “It was a sign, Adrian! A terrible, terrible sign!”
He chuckled, the sound warm and comforting. “Alright, alright,” he soothed, gently stroking my hair. “No more cauliflower dreams for you.”
