I asked, squinting my eyes trying to get a glimpse of the stranger. “Oh please I know more than your name bunny, I know everything about you” he said taking two more steps. “So you are a stalker then, how long have you been stalking me?” I panicked as I took more steps back. “I’m not a stalker bunny, I’m your nightmare” the voice said and just like the wind he disappeared into the shadows like he was never there, my heart sank into my stomach as his last words echoed in my head. I’m your nightmare.

Some nights, I didn’t sleep at all thanks to the endless nightmares. About losing it all to Alpha Dominic, no less. I had no idea when the last time I had slept properly was, but the goddamn thunderstorm outside saved me from that particular bad dream.

With no knowledge of which way to go, I hit something hard and I black out. The next thing I know I wake up screaming in my bed, I shiver uncontrollably as the dried sweat makes my hair stick to my head. The sheets tangled at the foot of the bed, but my heart beat is already slowing because I’m at home safe and secure from any of those monsters out there in the woods. It was just a nightmare. In all the 17 years of my life, that would have to be the scariest nightmare I have ever had. I know I can’t go back to sleep after having a nightmare like that, so I get my phone out and check the time, its 2 in the morning I still have 5 hours until I have to get up. What am I going to do? Exhausted and frustrated, she finally decided to get some rest, hoping that sleep would bring clarity. That night, she was plagued by unsettling dreams. The shadowy realm of Nyxterra reappeared in her sleep, its endless twilight sky and eerie silence wrapping around her like a shroud. In the dream, she wandered through the desolate landscape, calling out for Elias, but the shadows swallowed her voice, leaving her isolated and lost.

Rian’s did the same. My own fingers pressed over my mark. Something invisible in the room snapped taut. It felt like being back in the ritual circle for a second—magic humming under my skin, leashed and restless. But this time, instead of the weight of a single relic, there were three distinct pulls. Mooncrest. Nightveil 1. Nightveil 2. The seer’s blind eyes turned slightly up, as if listening to something above us. “Loud,” she murmured. “No wonder you’ve all been sleepless.”

Realizing too late that I am no longer fully clothed, I try to hide myself from them but the man who bit me steps forward and says, “I claim this female, she is my mate. No one shall ever lay claim to her for as long as I live.” The minute he says this, they all chant something and then I watch as an old woman with a dagger walks up to me and dips the knife in an earthen bowl before tracing a symbol on my forehead. She exclaims, “From now on, she is known as Daniella, Eric’s mate from the Silent Walker pack. May the Goddess Luna surround them with love and give them many pups throughout their years. Blessed Be.”

I WATCHED MY HANDS stitch up the new corpse on the table. These twins were among the thousands that ended up here since the Nightmare Master has been trying to use my ability to create a knight in your army. Thankfully, the best I can do is those horrendous curfew bots that need both my and Invent’s abilities to keep living. The Nightmare Master was definitely not satisfied, but I don't know what to tell him. I was about halfway finished stitching this man's arm on when I felt the night my master give me back control.

He mumbled a little before turning on his side but did not awaken. She shook her head, How can you be Dusk and Duskin? How can you pretend to be such a dark child when you are so kindhearted? Although she desired the answer to the question, she figured that she would never obtain the answer. Nightide remained secretive about their past. Hae Mina shook her head as she ventured up the staircase then fell on her bed in a heap. Her brain was too exhausted to push her back into her dreaded nightmares and so she slept heavily and deeply.

My busted knuckles left a trail of blood behind me reminding me that this was all real, that I was back in Dark Moon. I found my old room; everything was left just how it was the night I left the pack with no intensions of returning. I knocked the dust from the duvet and crashed into my old bed with a sigh. “Rest. It would appear we get to fight Lycans tomorrow.” Neoma nearly whispered her own sigh as I faded into sleep with an odd sensation of comfort washing over me. The nightmares came too quickly after that, I woke up panting, couldn’t catch my breath and I forgot where I was. All I could see was the rogues sinking their teeth into me.

“When?” Ronan looked toward the sky outside the narrow window. “Not quietly. Not hidden.” Kael frowned. “That makes no sense.” “It does if you want chaos to mask intention,” Ronan replied. “Nightfang celebrates the Full Moon in three nights.” The words settled heavily. Kael’s wolf stilled, listening. “The whole pack will be occupied,” Ronan continued. “Ritual fires. Music. Drink. Guards stationed outward, not inward.” Silas’s lips curved faintly. “Attention will be everywhere.”
