The fucking bastard. Of course he did. Of course he had to ruin it. Again. He ripped her away. Just like before. Always taking what wasn’t his to take. Always stealing the one thing that ever mattered to me. But not anymore. Not anymore. I’m done playing the good guy. The patient one. The background character in my own fucking story. No more watching from the sidelines. No more pretending. I’m ready to go full villain mode. If that’s what it takes, so be it.

But Vanessa charged on without restraint this time, her hands gesturing wildly. “I am sick of this entire family! Your …your, uhm…grand murder keeps trying to invent ways to get rid of me, while your precious Isla walks around pretending she’s the damn Queen of England! I kept to myself, Nate. I minded my business until they forced me to fight back. Remember that!” Her voice had a fresh crack of rage. “And now, I’m the villain? I’m the problem? I’m the snake?” Her hands were flailing in the air. “I’m the one you’re ashamed of?”

People going about their days, unaware that mine was imploding again. "What if he's right?" I whispered. "What if I am the villain?" "Then we're both villains." Damien's arms tightened around me. "Because I'm about to burn Victor Kane's empire to the ground."

But life doesn't make sense, anyway. Now regarding her, it was expected. I disappointed my sister, by killing one of the people she loves the most in this world, our eldest brother, Octavian. And besides her sad feelings making me feel like shit and like I failed with her, I can't help but not give a damn about his death at all. And having this mindset is what makes people see me as a villainess. I can't deny that either. Again, I know what I am. As well as I know that all of the things I did, took me to where I am now.

I was still speaking when Maya smacked my hand softly. “Nah-uh, don't you dare feel bad for nobody's betrayal…. you're not the villain in this goddamn story girl!! He and his entire sicko family are the devil here, remember? They tricked you, lied to you and now they're trying to play some goddamn supero spy shit with you, that is some villain type of bullshit and you don't have any right to feel sad about getting up in their ass and sniffing them out.” She said then crossed her arms.

“Remember it’s only a game. Leave your deaths for after the game.” Lifting my gaze to meet hers, I put my dagger back. “You call me weak and yet, the truth triggers you, what a clown.” Ivella muttered something under her breath but I ignored her. I squatted to the bottle, spinning it as I watched it roll. Seconds later, its tip stopped in front of black boots with a scowl on his face. Kai Malek. Jackpot. “Truth or Dare.” My lips curved into a smirk. “Dare.” No reaction whatsoever. Not for long. “I dare you to bring the crown of King Aldamar to the middle of this circle.”

“You’re not going to shoot me.” “You’re right,” I said coldly. “But I might start with your legs.” He smirked. “Always the hero. The problem is, you don’t know who the villain really is.” Lena’s voice came from behind me. “You’re the villain, Elias.” His gaze slid to her, and the smirk faded. “I’m the one trying to save you, Lena. You think Adrian’s the victim here? He’s the reason you’re in danger.” I stepped forward. “Say that again.”

Was it my fault, or is Vivaldi stronger than I thought? "Maybe you fought back," I say, desperation creeping into my words. "You're so stupid," he scoffs. "I didn't feel you take control, so I had nothing to fight. You know what? I hate you. You call me a villain, but you're the real monster. You're selfish and mean, keeping the power to free me when I need it most. You don't trust me, but I've given you every reason to. Just will the answers out of me, damn it!"

Then finally, he muttered, “And people say I’m the villain.” Valerie walked away and called out over her shoulder, “You are. I’m just the woman who fell for one.”
