Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, Mia turned to Merrick, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Are you dating my Mom?" Mia blurted out, unable to suppress her inquisitiveness. Merrick met Mia's gaze, his eyes crinkling with a gentle smile. "Yes, your mom is my girlfriend now," he responded, his voice filled with warmth. "So she's not just your mom anymore, but also my woman."

*Amelia’s POV* “Sarah, do you have a minute?” Mia leaned against my office door and asked. I sat aside the report I was working on and looked up, “Of course, what’s up?” Mia was wearing a button-up Hawaiian shirt and black slacks. Her blonde hair was pulled back into two buns that sat on top of her head, and her blue eyes sparkled with charisma. She was adorable and seemed like a really fun person, though we hadn’t talked much. She reminded me a lot of Nina.

“Well, I do not know. Maybe after you complained, my subconscious tied you up to be with me.” I hold back my laughter as Mia rolls her eyes. I look around and I can see that we are on the coast. The smell of salt coming from the sea fills my nose as the soft breeze hits my face. Mia tells me, “Wow! It is incredible to see, feel and smell the sea.” I turn my head and I can see how her green eyes shine with excitement, and I just realized that this is the first time Mia is in the beach's presence. I smile and tell her, “That’s right. I have always felt connected to the beach. The sea calls me whenever I am in its presence.”

The phone buzzed again as it turned on. Mia’s heart stuttered in her chest as she stared at the screen. A voicemail from her Mum glowing in front of her. Hands trembling, she pressed play, holding the phone close like it might slip from her grasp. Her mother’s voice poured through the speaker—warm, familiar, full of light. “Darling… you’re going to love Fiji. The ocean is the same blue as your favourite flowers, and the sunsets—oh, Mia, they look like someone set the whole sky on fire. Take care of yourself, okay? I miss you terribly. I love...”

Mia smiles happily seeing the bond between Malcolm and David. Then she looks at the vast blue sea again, her heart and soul feel so tender and peaceful. She wishes she could jump straight into the sea immediately, but she can't, the girl doesn't want to dirty her new and expensive dress. Therefore, Mia is a little sad. But she would try to tell Malcolm when he gets here, that if she’s been to the sea without being able to soak in the cool water, that's not what she wants to be.
