I hadn’t expected to get so close to her, but our friendship had blossomed over the past few months, and I genuinely looked forward to our ridiculous, silly chats.
“I’ve been thinking,” she began with a dramatic sigh, her eyes wide with intensity, “men are terrible. The worst! Just absolutely no good, no good at all!” She took a sip of her coffee and shook her head vigorously. “They are like… uh, those things that destroy your life, but you don’t know it is happening until it is too late. What do you call them?”
“Time bombs?” I offered, grinning widely at the absurdity of the comparison.
