I slowly pulled the stake out of my chest and, with the last of my fleeting strength, launched it at Vanessa.
"I failed you Vanessa, I'm so sorry," I said weakly as the stake went through her stomach.
She turned around slowly, blood seeping between her fingers as she held her wound. I could feel the life draining from my own body.
"So you aren't above stabbing your daughter in the back, huh? Unlike you, I refuse to die here." She said.
"You will die tonight, Vanessa. I tried to shield you from the horrors of the world, but now you are one. I blame myself for that. I truly do love you Vanessa." I said weakly as tears flowed freely down my cheeks.
