There was a leather couch in the corner, a bar cart with expensive-looking bottles of whiskey, and a window that overlooked the estate grounds. It was the kind of room that screamed power and control. The kind of room that belonged to a man like Jonathan Hart. I walked over to the bookshelves, running my fingers along the spines. Most of them were business books, biographies of CEOs and politicians, a few on philosophy. Then I noticed something odd. One of the shelves looked… different. Like it didn’t quite sit flush with the wall. I reached out and pressed against it gently. There was a soft click, and the shelf swung inward.

Each chandelier held within it a dancing flame, casting flickering shadows upon the shelves of books that stretched as far as the eye could see. The shelves were made of intricately carved marble, adorned with scrolls and books, and delicate filigree. Each book was a work of art, bound in fine leather and decorated with intricate, gilded designs. Amira paused in front of one of the large mahogany tables. “Put them here,” she ordered the servants, who proceeded to place the ledgers on the table whilst she looked at the library in awe.

Bright and comfortable. I had entered the library, Ozias trailing behind me. Books lay atop almost every open surface. Stacks of them were lined within the walls. Several others just stood as end tables. Between it all stood Albert, with his balding white hair. Frustrated with the lack of book shelving places, he cursed beneath his breath. Organizing such a mess would prove close to impossible if not given more space.

I gave the interior decorator a thumbs up. On the other end, a bookshelf rested on the wall well stacked with books of all kinds. Adrian was a bookworm and he tried to impose it on everyone in the house. That's why he kept a bookshelf in all the rooms in his mansion. His workspace was another thing that made me gasp well organized with piles of files and documents neatly placed on the sizable oval table. Some rays of sunlight passed through the curtains and hit certain objects on their way.

We walk down the hall until we reach a set of tall, heavy double doors. She pushes them open and I gasp at the size of the room on the other side. It stretches at least a few thousand square feet, with a thirty-foot ceiling. Books shelves cover most of the room, and all but one of the walls. The wall directly across from us is mostly a massive window with hammocks and small platforms. “Wow, this is amazing,” I breathe out making Angel laugh. “Yeah, everything is organized alphabetically by title,” she says. “I thought it’s supposed to be by the author’s last name?”

He never thought that he will have to mix a spell in his lifetime again and thought he will be long dead by the time Jessica turned eighteen and didn’t bother to keep any special pre-mix and ready-to-use Shaman things around. Ann looked around the room for the first time. It had several potted plants hanging in front of the large window. A cluttered bookshelf that stretches from ceiling to floor and across from wall to wall. The bookshelf had glass bottles filled with different color liquids placed between stacked books that looked incredibly old and weathered. Ann even noticed some feathers, strings, and different size stones here and there on the shelves.

I don’t try touching it again. Closing the box, I approach the shelves. I take out the book closest to me. Brushing off the dust, I realize it’s a strategy book, written in delicate penmanship. The paper is fragile, but the tome is bound with great care. The other side of the shelf seems to have hard-bound journals. It’s like an entire couple’s life secured in one small room. I hear a scraping sound, and I turn my head to see Robert picking up a stack of small portraits from one of the iron boxes in the corner.

My eyes sweep over the familiar surroundings, taking in every detail as if for the first time. The plush couch and chaise beckon invitingly. Towering bookshelves line one of the walls, their shelves laden with countless books, the titles a mix of familiar classics and obscure texts that only Mercy could appreciate. The soft glow of the lamp on her desk casts a warm light, the delicate glass shade casting intricate patterns on the polished wood surface.

I stood in awe, admiring it as I ran my fingers along the smooth edges of the design. After taking in the beauty, I realized the door was cracked open, so I walked in. The layout of this home was intricate and breathtakingly gorgeous. The interior revealed a grand, high-ceilinged space filled with silver-spined books that seemed to stretch up to the heavens. Towering shelves, crafted from a rich, dark wood, supported the tomes, their silver lettering glinting in the soft, ambient light.

She hadn’t had an interest in exploring that section of the room before. Now she looked at the polished red bookshelves warily. Every book was handsomely bound, and many of them had gilt lettering. Normally that was a turnoff for her, because she always figured those kind of books were boring old classics. Deprived of her TV, however, she was willing to investigate closer.
