Queit Places: A Novella of Cosmic Folk Horror
This state of affairs only hurt the Gate more, and this increase in the Gate’s suffering drew more Bréostwylmas to it.
To the Gate, this whole situation was worse than intolerable, it was unconscionable. The Gate was fashioned from the deepest vein of God’s mercy. It was meant as an escape and a release, not an instrument of torture, not a lure to feed the most merciless and draconian elements of Creation.
The Gate, however, had more patience, and more cunning, than either the Archons or the Bréostwylmas ever realised. So it bided its time, and it waited, knowing that a chance would come to be rid of its persecutors.
