Their birthday is another constant reminder that they aren’t here with you. And then comes the anniversary of their death. It never gets easier. It may be one year, it may be 10 years. It’s still hard. Instead of making it a sad day, you want to smile, so maybe you do something kind for a stranger. Maybe you plant some flowers, visit with a friend, or just sit on your sofa and cry. That is perfectly alright, too. You can cry today. Just cry. You can still grieve.

I try to make the issue seem like something of less importance. “I am guessing either you or Brian are planning something for your Anniversary to probably ease the tension,” Aurora suddenly speaks up sounding all excited. “Anniversary?” The other girls asks, confused. “What anniversary is that?” I asked her because I was also confused. “Your one-month wedding anniversary,” she answers and I hiss. “It’s been one month already?” Ember asks. “How time flies,” Eden chirps in. “You didn't remember your anniversary which means that you are not planning anything,” Aurora blinks back in shock.

The duo started a competition to ruin her mood each day, and she had to end it even before they argued over who the winner was. Arial lied every day, as Cassandra called it, though she didn't want to listen to her pettish talk, but they had more facts than a lies. Who was she to blame? She trusted them both, but she got mocked for her loyalty. She ended it all before she was to be called a fool by them during one of the days. Now, it's been almost a month, and she hasn't met the mysterious guy, as she calls him. The umbrella sat lonely in the corner as her eyes darted to it on rainy days. Soon, his image and his vision left her memory as she began to live life again.

I say nothing and let out a deep sigh. "Chris", she holds my hand and her voice is comforting. "You don't know what last night meant to me. I mean it was not as intense as the moments we have already had. But there's something in those moments when we just come rushing from our workplaces and there are no planned heads up. We're tired yet not tired enough to smile with each other and spend the evening. That too on our anniversary night. The ninth anniversary which some couples definitely ignore to celebrate. I can't tell you how proud I am of us" Her last statement hits harder.

I squeezed both her palms in mine over the table "Nothing sweetheart, I'm your ride or die" she brushed a kiss over my knuckle. "Oh jeez it's almost midnight!" She broke the moment suddenly realizing we had one more minute into 2018. The only thing that crossed my mind was that's I'll be a year older in two weeks. 29 and single -cheers- i toasted to myself. “We’ve talked about this lots of times before, and you keep saying later.” “I know. I mean it now. Let’s set a date.” He nodded. “Okay. When were you thinking?” Cadence thought for a second, but that’s all it took before the perfect date popped into her head. “How about September second?” A flicker of a question brushed across his face before she saw the recognition. “Your grandparents’ anniversary?” “Yes. Why not? If it wasn’t for them, we might not have ever even met.”

"September eighteen." "Oh, that's...two months away" she croaked and cleared her throat "two months away. That's good, you will be out of the bachelorhood in two months time, this calls for a celebration" she smiled but her smile faltered and her eyes brimmed with tears. She laughed nervously and blinked continuously to keep the tears at bay, "really, when are we going to celebrate?"

She answered with a smile. For some reason, my heart was rapidly beating. "When will it be?" I asked Softly. "On the ninth." She answered. I felt my knees weaken and my headache. "Why nine?" I asked in nearly a scream. The noise immediately died. I didn't care anymore if I was yelled at by the other ladies or not. I felt anger like never before. Why the hell did they choose the exact date as my birthday, the coincidence was too much. "Mia calm down, everyone is looking at you right now." Meg whispered.

He nodded in agreement. The car fell silent again. Roxanne opened her calendar and looked at two dates that were side by side. September 7th was marked with the word 'divorce', and September 6th was their wedding anniversary. It also happened to mark exactly twelve years since she first fell in love with him. To return to the place where it all began on such a meaningful day—was that not the most complete way to bring everything to a full circle? This would also mark the end of these twelve years of her youth.

“I’m good. Thanks.” She tucked it back into her bag and turned to me, her gaze sharpening. “Do you know what’s been bothering me?” “Enlighten me.” “It bothers me that you’ve been nineteen for almost two months now and we have yet to celebrate.” Had it really been two months already? “I celebrated,” I shrugged. Trinity raised a brow. “When I say celebrate, I don’t mean Kylan eating the birthday cake between your thighs,” she said. “I mean a real celebration. A party!”
