Crazy Hearts

He grabs my ass and even though I feel uncomfortable I don't want him to stop. My phone vibrates from my bag and I withdraw, regaining my senses. I scurry into the restroom to answer. It's mom calling. "Hello mama" "Hello, Diane, it's me, Anna, mama has been rushed to the hospital, she is sick" Anna's voice is shaking. Her words send cold shivers down my spine. Mama's illness is here again. "Is it the city hospital?" I ask and she replies positively. I put the heels in my handbag and slip my

"At Eau Rouge. One-sixty-five. Above threshold." "Above," Arthie confirmed. "Not dangerous. Just —" He paused, finding the word that was their shared language. "Just present. The anxiety that is not mediated by speed but is included in it. The fear that is companion, not enemy." "And now?" "Now it descends. Now it recovers. Now —" Arthie pulled back slightly, enough to see Cyrus's face, the gaze that was twin-specific and also simply human, simply love. "Now you are here. The witness. The —" He smiled, the expression that was transformation visible. "The love. Specifically. Particularly. Non-replicably."

FEAR. A strong, uncontrollable and unpleasant emotion caused by actual or perceived danger or threat. This was all Dylan Blake could feel as he opens his eyes while expecting an excruciating pain from his chest area, in particular, his heart. He was naturally born with a weak heart but the accident he was in a week ago proved that the fact that he was alive was a miracle to him. As his eyes closed, having been on life support machine for days while waiting for a donor, all he could think of was dying in the hand of his lover but who was he kidding. She wasn’t present next to him at that moment, she wasn’t even in existence anymore. The accident had taken her life and left him in solitude and

Troubled Heart

Troubled Heart

It halted me mid-step as uncertainty gripped my chest. My heart raced, a steady drum in the silence. No one should be out on the road, not with the storm raging like a wild beast, howling and pounding against the windows. I swallowed hard, my throat dry, as I stared into the blizzard that obscured everything beyond the safety of my home. Yet, amidst the swirling flurries, the headlights pulsed like a heartbeat on the distant winding road, flickering erratically through the gusts of snow.

Bryant truly is such a gifted writer. This is another great story that is absolutely worth a read! Loved the characters/their personalities and the differences they brought to the table that balanced each other out beautifully. As always author - job well done! Cant wait for more from you :)

Great read. As always, Author Bryant keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just enough spice to be spicy but not too much. I love that everything Bryant puts in her books has a purpose. There isn’t a spicy scene just to have one. Everything builds for the storyline and characters. Another 5 star.

Hidden Hearts

Hidden Hearts

The rain hit the pavement in quick, sharp bursts as Cassandra hurried down the slick streets of Phoenix. Her heels clicked against the wet concrete, echoing in the near-empty alleyways. The night had shifted since dinner, colder now, more unpredictable—like the city itself. She pulled her coat tighter around her, the collar brushing against her cheek, but it did little to fend off the chill that wasn’t just from the weather. Her phone buzzed again. Another alert from Phoenix Analytics: Unusual activity detected near downtown warehouse. The message was brief, but the implications weren’t. Someone was watching, or worse, moving. Cass’s mind raced. Could Leo’s warnings be more urgent than she’d

Everything we had has been a lie, a whole load of lies. More tears welled up in my eyes, as I stared down at my feet. I clenched my fists, quickly drawing in breaths, hoping the feeling would pass. I felt a sudden ache in my chest and slowly rubbed my chest, trying to ease the ache in my heart and gulped in air once again. It was so hard for me to breathe. I tried to clear my throat but the twisted lump remained drawing my voice together.
