“He wants Apollo’s strength—so he can become the most powerful werewolf in existence.” A chill swept down my spine. “Who is Apollo?” I asked quietly. My father met my gaze, his expression grim. “Apollo was the first werewolf. The God of War. The strongest being the moon goddess ever created.” My stomach clenched. That kind of power—in Anthony’s hands? It would mean ruin. Chaos. Destruction. My father stepped closer, placing a firm hand on my shoulder. “That’s why Devlin wants you,” he said softly. My breath hitched. “What does this have to do with me?”

Sköll growled and I frowned. "What else could they possibly release?" I asked curiously and he curled his muzzle and shrugged. "They have their own warriors, one is a serious concern. He is called Apollo Lykaios," Amelia said firmly as she came up beside me. "It would be great for the Moon Goddess to help since she's the one wanting this rebellion," I muttered bitterly. "Hopefully she has spoken directly with Lykaios and he has agreed and will tuck his tail and lower his head as we pass," Michael grunted. I shook my head as Sköll began telling us to head toward the mountains.

I knew if I didn’t act, that rage would eat her alive, poison every happy moment of her childhood. Let me carry it instead, I thought. All the anger, all the pain—leave her out of it. “Anyway,” Apollo said, clearing his throat to break the silence. “Want to know what I’m the god of?” “What, Uncle Handsome?” Summer perked up, her earlier request already forgotten. I let out a long breath of relief and mouthed thank you to Apollo. He winked. “Lots of things! Apollo is the god of light, poetry, prophecies, music, dance, truth… even healing and diseases.”

Shadows lunged from between the trees: Lycans, some in their beast form, teeth bared, snarling at the intruder on their lands. Orion's hand went up instinctively to his side to show he meant no harm before he slowly stepped forward, his voice deep and commanding. "I am Orion, Alpha of the North. I've not come to fight. I demand an audience with Alpha Aleksandr." From among the gathered Lycans, a tall woman emerged, the sinewy muscles of her arms flexing beneath her armour, golden eyes sharp as a blade. She regarded him with a look that was both condescending and disregarding.

Opposite them, two gods—Ares, the God of War, and Apollo, the God of the Sun—sat in contemplative silence, their expressions unreadable. The silence was broken by Hera, her voice sharp as a blade. "His curse grows stronger day by day, Luna," she said, using the name they reserved for Selene. Her golden crown caught the starlight as she leaned forward. "I thought you said he had found his mate. Why does the fire of destruction still burn within him?"

FLASHBACK — HELL, MINUTES BEFORE The battle reached a fever pitch as Luna, her eyes blazing with fury, unleashed a spear of moonlight that pierced through the chaos, aimed straight at Allistair. The missile hissing through the air made its way, its ethereal light a stark contrast to the darkness of Hell. Allistair, no longer constrained by the Seraphim sigils, absorbed the attack with ease. His Chaos surged, transmuting the celestial energy into something far more potent. With a flick of his wrist, he returned the assault a thousand times stronger, sending a wave of raw, unbridled power crashing back toward Luna.

Blake’s POV As I ascend the hill with Alpha Victor, an electric tension fills the air. The moonlight bathes us, illuminating the path and casting long shadows that dance with each step we take. The transformation grips us instantly. Victor's Lycan, a formidable figure in its own right, pales in comparison to the sheer size and strength of my own. Standing there, I see the recognition in Victor's eyes as he nods subtly, acknowledging my power dynamic.

His breath was hot on my face as he inhaled my scent. "I haven't had a female Death demon in so long." His voice was low, rough, and almost like a growl. He purred as his tongue slid out of his mouth and along my collarbone leaving his saliva on my skin, "Your mate is...Xander Acer, King of the underworld, Royalty demon of all unliving." My eyes went wide and I stared up at him, completely shocked, "What?" I whispered. He chuckled, the movement of him laughing shaking my entire body, "The Gods have a twisted sense of humor, that's for sure." He grinned, showing me his sharp canine teeth, "Just stay still and everything will be okay."

Despite the wealth and power that came with being the new werewolf king, the room seemed desolate, void of the warmth he longed for. Jolene. Her name echoed in his thoughts, a melody he couldn’t shake. Her voice, her laughter, her touch—each memory cut deeper than the claws he bore as a werewolf. She was the one thing he desired more than the throne. But she was slipping away, like a dream at dawn. He imagined her with Apollo, the sun god. A radiant, powerful deity with a charm that could light up a room, just like the sun he commanded. The idea of Jolene with someone else made Theo’s heart ache.
