I begged “What's— what's going on?” Mel sobbed. “Oh, sweetheart are you still oblivious to what's going on around you? But I will fix that.” The air shifted, heavier now, and the shadows leaned in closer to us. The underworld itself seemed to shiver at Kael’s presence. Before I could react, Azrael appeared. Not in judgment — not yet — but with the weight of eternity pressing down. Wings of iridescent white, sword sheathed at his side, eyes glowing with warning.

It wasn’t a matter of opinion, he simply was a beautiful man—or creature. “Why are you showing yourself to us?” Darren positioned himself more in front of me as he challenged Azrael. However, if he was who he said he was, this would mean he was powerful. Some call him an angel, while others say he’s a demon, and then you have those who say he’s a god. In any case, everyone knew he was strong and responsible for guiding souls. “You’re the one who interrupted me. I’m here to collect a soul, and you’re here to take the person. Quite the dilemma.”

In a desperate attempt to protect you, I blocked his gaze, but he revealed his dark angelic face, letting out a piercing scream that almost threw you and Deli off the bridge.

My face fell, “But who are the others?” “There are three. You can save them all, but there will be a price.” I sighed, holding my head in my hands. “Who are they?” “My son will help you, he is a healer, as I am.” “Who are you?” The angel’s face lit up, a bright smile adorning his attractive features. The angel took his glasses off, revealing light-colored eyes. My mouth fell open, “I am the Arch Angel Raphael, but in my human form, you can call me Azarias, Az for short.”

I now know that this was the work of The Keepers. His name, Azrael, meant Angel of Death. This was not a lie. The amount of havoc he and Andres wreaked after splitting, was insane. Before that, and this was hundreds of years ago, we crossed paths. Azrael was on a mission to collect ingredients for his split. None of us knew exactly what he was doing at the time, but he was very determined to get things done. I was seeing a woman back then. She was a Vampire, of course, so she actually liked me for me, and not because of my Reaver charm. She was drawn to me because of who I was.

Lila followed the ritual exactly — black candles, fresh blood from her palm, the ancient words spoken at midnight under a blood moon. The air grew thick and hot. The candles flared unnaturally high. Then the shadows in the room coalesced into something massive. He stepped out of the darkness like he owned it. Azrael was beautiful in the most terrifying way. Towering over seven feet tall, with obsidian skin that seemed to drink in light, glowing crimson eyes, and a muscular body carved from pure sin. Horns curved back from his head, and massive black wings were folded behind him. His presence filled the room with raw, ancient power.
