Lucian POV The cold wind from the ice was really loud in my ears as a shadow came down on me. Through the plastic of my visor, I saw him. He was the enforcer for the Ironclaw Titans, a huge guy built like a wall. He was skating down the ice fast, his skates cutting deep into the frost. He was not looking at the puck at all. His eyes were locked on my jersey. His big shoulders were tucked in, aiming straight for my spot to crush me against the boards.

He stood straight and rolled his eyes. "In this case, I think you're the one who is scared of me. I concluded that you could have grown a backbone to be able to stand on your own but who knew that you are nothing more than a coward? I am not here for the crown so you can put your mind at rest. He said teasingly and this annoyed Sky so much that he gritted his teeth.

By ten thirty the arena had mostly cleared. The cleaning crew was working the upper tiers. The ice had been left as it was, the competition surface, still pristine, the lights above it dimmed to their overnight low setting but not fully off. The overhead panels cast the same pale blue-white glow that made the ice look like it produced its own light. The side door was unlocked. Samantha didn't ask how Anthony had arranged that. She suspected Isaac. She suspected Isaac had anticipated this the way he anticipated most things and had made a quiet phone call to the facilities manager sometime between the trophy ceremony and the press appearance.
