Before Rodrig could continue, Armin was already stuttering. "I was supposed to send the location to jefe. Forgive me padre, I forgot... I made a terrible mist...." Armin wasn't done explaining himself. He was silenced by a sharp slashing sound that followed Rodrig's sudden movement. My eyes grew round a sharp and loud gasp escaping my mouth. A slim blade was extending from Rodrig's staff and it was buried in Armin's neck. When he pulled it out, blood splattered all over Armin's body and I looked away. The sound of Armin gaggling and choking on his own blood made me want to block my ears but that's not something Lucia would do, is it?

The camp smelled like blood, smoke, and failure. And somehow… the silence after Alpha Ramon’s death felt worse than the battle itself. Beta Armin looked sick with rage. His entire body shook as he paced near the fire, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles had gone pale. His alpha was dead. Not missing. Not captured. Dead. And everyone inside the camp could feel what that loss was doing to him. For one reckless second, Ruztom genuinely thought Armin might run straight into the forest alone just to kill as many lycan rogues as possible before they tore him apart too.

He pondered, "Could this child be Armin's contingency plan?" He could not help but be reminded of how powerful Armin was some millions of years ago. Nothing could escape Armin's eyes and mind. He could see the past and future, in addition to transcending time. Lawrence speculated that Armin might have foreseen the impending invasion of Bleu Celestial Realm, deciding then to buy millions of years' worth of time for all living beings by slashing the massive realm into fragments with divine will. Lawrence dispelled those thoughts after sensing that there was no trace of Armin's aura from Severin.

But, Amaris doesn't have any siblings that I know of—her only friend being that one boy that took his life a few days ago. When I heard what happened, I felt sick, wishing that I could have done something more, knowing that I should have stepped in and stopped it. Instead, I went to my father—but he forbade me from stepping in, we do not interfere with human ordeals, he had said.

After a few moments the glass was emptied and my old alpha had stilled completely. "Oh good, he died" I stated as I turned to face Armand with a smile. He wore a shocked expression on his face and said nothing as he stared at me. I took that moment to notice the large group that was with him and smiled when I saw Valerian amongst the group. He was smiling at me like he was proud of me. I was relieved to see he had made it out alive and I knew then that things would be all right.

The ramp hissed shut, locking us in. I crawled to Armano. He was crumpled against the wall, his eyes open but glassy, unfocused. A dark stain was spreading rapidly across his chest, soaking the black tactical vest, pooling on the floor beneath him. "Armano?" I grabbed his shoulders, shaking him. "Look at me!" He blinked, slowly. His lips moved, but only a wet, rattling gasp escaped. "Don't you do this," I snarled, tears blurring my vision. "Don't you dare die on me. Do you hear me? I forbid it!"

Donald gritted his teeth and stood between Palmer's gun and Arman “Lower your fucking gun Palmer!” Palmer's eyes had a glint of madness. He was hungry for blood, and it didn't matter who's blood it was “Move Donnie boy, you don't want to get caught in the crossfire” Arman lowered his gun. “Call me when you two have sorted out your administrative issues, the we'll have a proper fight” Arman said as he walked past the other men and towards the door “This isn't over, this—”

“He attacked the Jarl palace, almost killed Karol Jarl, and then he drove his Bugatti straight into the Holland mansion. We—" Before Garry could finish, Armin roared, “Shut up!” The command echoed through the hall, making everyone, including the police officers, flinch. Garry froze in shock, his words caught in his throat as he stared at Armin, who now wore a deadly serious expression.

I didn't want a random guy seeing my ass. I followed Luke's recommendation and headed to the female bathroom. I turned on the shower, and the feeling I'd been repressing exploded in my chest as the droplets of water hit my skin, realization sunk in. Armin could die. He generally had a weak body due to his past incidents. Only his reputation had been sustaining him so far, but now he got poisoned and probably inhaled the zombie's dangerous gas. Fuck! Even though I killed the zombie, I only endangered his life and worsened the situation.

I shudder in fear, and even the Lycans fall to their knees. Next to me, Armin goes rigid and falls face first into the grass, his body jerks spasmodically for a few seconds, and then he simply stops moving. Warriors appear out of the darkness, their eyes blank, blood streaming from their noses and ears, weapons hanging uselessly by their sides. I sink to my knees next to Armin and turn him over before I start to feel around for a pulse, but I know it's useless. There is no heartbeat. He died before he even hit the ground.
