“Both of you need to get out of my sight.” Nora pulled her wrist free and glared at me. “You’ll regret this, Zack.” “No, Nora. The only regret I have is ever letting you into my life,” I retorted. “Now, leave. And take your pathetic friend with you.” Brittany looked like she wanted to say something, but a sharp look from Aaron silenced her. They turned and walked away, their heads held high in a facade of dignity that no one believed.

It smelled of bleach and privilege. On the sink, waiting like an accusation, sat a bottle. Professional-grade hair lightener. Stark white. The kind that didn’t just color—it erased. Marcella picked it up, turning it in her fingers like a relic. “They expect a blonde,” she said simply. “So you’ll be one.” Amara’s breath caught.

I held my hands close, drawing nearer to the bed for safety, and watching him step back. He gave out a scoff and said, "Okay, how about this for that question. " All of a sudden, Argon pulled out a spoilt, moulded object from behind the wardrobe, dropping it before me. When I looked at this object, about to ask what it was, the label and the object came to view! "What?! It can't be!" I was shocked. "Do you recognize the chemical you bought and used to melt my suit? The same one you tried to use and render me naked before the world?! The same chemical you blamed Brielle for?!" He raised his voice, pointing at it.

She did not understand why the Chief had said that. A pair of red eyes looked down at her shorter frame. "You will be a part of the Private Bleach case. I assume you have heard of Bleach." Her throat became drier and itchier than it already was. B-Bleach? The Legendary Greatest Swordsman? The Mysterious Werewolf Butcher? I looked at him and then, back at Bradley, who I didn’t expect to be this insensible. “It must be exhausting,” Bradley continued, his tone dripping with fake pity. “Trading a tech empire for a dusty shovel, just because you couldn't secure your own capital. Your tech logistics dreams are pretty much dead in the water now, aren't they?” A sudden anger flared in my chest and before Julian could form a response, I took a step towards Bradley. The scream that left my lips was bloodcurdling. I stare at my reflection in horror and almost have the urge to cry. My hair is no longer a fair shade of strawberry blonde but a creamy chocolate brown, my natural hair colour. Oh, shit, shit, shit! I grabbed my bottle of shampoo and dumped its contents into the sink; it wasn’t shampoo. It was bleach. Fuck! How did bleach get in here? Someone must have poured bleach into this bottle, and Kiara was the only one in the room. My blood boiled in such a way that I was certain my skin was turning a bright shade of red. I storm out of the bathroom, but I am met by no one in our room.

I only know one person and that's my mom. I shook the thoughts out my head as I walked into the bathroom connected to the room. I turned on the hot water and stripped myself of all clothing before stepping in. My eyes sealed closed as I let the warm water bounce off my back and relieve all my stress and worries. I picked up the axe body wash that was left in the shower and scrubbed it into my skin feeling all the dirt wash away from my body. I grabbed the shampoo that was also left in the shower, and used what was left in the container. I squeezed the white colored shampoo into my hands before massaging the lavender scented fragrance into my hair.

MEGAN ‘Marley…. I swear…” I gritted, my fingers digging into my hands, almost drawing out blood. She said her blind date was an ugly, trust-fund kid, yet, the smug, arrogant six-foot-four across from me was the total opposite. I sat upright and cleared my throat. Although, I was met with something unexpected, that didn’t stop me from starting what I came here for. Ruining the blind date. “I’m sorry for calling you an ugly alien. There was a miscommunication from my end.”

It was a massive, expensive wall of noise designed to swallow me whole, a reminder of the sheer, unyielding power Caleb wielded when he wanted to put on a show.
