The scream that left my lips was bloodcurdling. I stare at my reflection in horror and almost have the urge to cry. My hair is no longer a fair shade of strawberry blonde but a creamy chocolate brown, my natural hair colour. Oh, shit, shit, shit! I grabbed my bottle of shampoo and dumped its contents into the sink; it wasn’t shampoo. It was bleach. Fuck! How did bleach get in here? Someone must have poured bleach into this bottle, and Kiara was the only one in the room. My blood boiled in such a way that I was certain my skin was turning a bright shade of red. I storm out of the bathroom, but I am met by no one in our room.

I let out a sharp breath and pushed the bedsheet away. “I really thought it was dye, I promise.” I defended myself, though not with much confidence, feeling quite confused. I truly believe that was bleach. I believed it was simply the natural shade of blue that would make it appear whiter. “Take a look,” she said, pulling out the bleach she had brought and opening it for me to see. It is nearly colorless, much like water. I trembled in disbelief; this was worse than anything I had ever experienced.

“It’s part of the process, sir, I swear.” “Then why does she look like she’s in pain?” Nathan’s jaw tightened. He wasn’t sitting back with his arms crossed anymore. His hands were on the armrests, ready to act. “It’s true what he said,” Tessa said, taking a deep breath, holding back her tears. “Bleaching does hurt, but don’t worry. You’ll get what you want.” “I need this chemical on her hair for at least thirty minutes,” the stylist said, alternating glances between Tessa and Nathan.

Hunter returned, holding a plastic mixing bowl in one hand and an application brush in the other. Inside the bowl was a frothy blue mixture that reeked of chemicals strong enough to make my eyes water. I recoiled slightly, nose wrinkling as I waved a hand in front of my face. “What the hell is that?” I asked, eyeing the suspicious concoction like it might come alive and eat me. He smirked, setting the bowl down on the vanity in front of me. “Powdered bleach. Gotta lighten your hair first so the pink sticks better. Otherwise, you’ll just end up with a muddy mess.”

I watched it closely. For a second, nothing happened. I waited. Then, the liquid began to soak into the fibers. Right before my eyes, the deep black of my shirt began to change. It didn't just get wet. It started to fade. The black turned to a sickly, burnt orange. And then, gradually but fast, it turned to a pale, ghostly white. This was the same. The exact tea that had poured on me that day. The bleaching tea. What is inside this?

I clench my fists, determined to prove her wrong. As she turns to leave, a wicked grin playing on her lips, she pauses and looks back at me. “One last thing, Xavie listens to me. We don’t want him to change his mind about you now, do we, Luna?” she sneers, chucking the bleach at me. My heart sinks as I realise the lid isn’t on the bleach, and it pours over me, burning my skin and ruining what’s left of my dress. I bite my trembling lower lip, vowing not to let her break me.

Damn him. “Don’t get me wrong, I like the view, but I don’t like my woman down on her knees. Especially with a little bun in the oven and with all this bleach.” Amber tsked at him, “Don’t you start. I’m pregnant not dead. It needed to be done and a little bleach never killed anyone.”
