Reyes looked up, still with a grin that pissed Triston off like he was not afraid of dying, like he was sure Triston didn't have it in him to take his life or any life.
"Do it," Reyes dared.
Then it happened.
Swiss. A sharp, sudden sound cut through the air — almost too soft against the battle’s roar and pain exploded in Triston’s shoulder. He cried out, staggering backward as the arrow embedded deep into the joint, piercing through the muscle and locking his arm mid-swing. His sword slipped from his hand, clattering to the stone. His breath caught, wild and ragged, eyes wide with pain and betrayal.
